TRD PRO or not

Looking a 2019 TRD Pro......Pro's or Con's. Would like to lift the truck to run 33's. So probably a dumb question but should I look at something else. Will the fox shocks work with a lift? This will not be a mall crawler but not a super serious off road truck either....possibly some overlanding on easy trails and some camping. All input will be appreciated.

Pros: that's a Pro.
Cons: overpriced

I got TRD Sport and put some TRD Pro bits(grill, skidplate, exhaust, foglights, sema rims) planning to do Fox shocks with 2" lift in the future. Will still come out way cheaper than Pro.

 

Or get an OR and do a hood swap.

 

Not a lift expert here, but if you planning to do a lift, wouldnt it make the most sense to buy sr5 and lift ? Its just as capable as the pro, besides the locker and crawl control. You could save 15-20gs. Just my .02.

 

Get the Pro and live a little.

 

1/2” Top plate spacer up front, 1” block in the back. Throw on some bigger tires and your overlanding camping dreams can come true.

 

285/75/16 aka 33’s fits on stock Pro suspension. I have a couple buddies with that setup

 

I got a 19 pro instead of an OR 2020 and have no regrets. Love the truck and the deals you can get right now are really good. Around here they have a lot of them and I even had a dealer cold call me and try and let me know how good a deal they could get for me. I think they had 3 they were trying to unload. Online their prices were still "retail". I would say you could easily knock 3,000 off listed prices NOT including any TFS rebates or cash back. Just go test drive one and see what you think.

 

Most people will say no, but honestly the only knock on it is the price tag. If you’re not dissuaded by that, go for it. It’s a great truck.

 

If you can get a 6 speed
you will not regret it, but if you get an auto there will be a little buyers regret regardless of what you buy.

 

If you are going to modify the suspension anyway, I don't see the reason to pay the Pro premium. Get an OR and lift it.

 

SR5 unless you really need Crawl Control....so much savings for mods YOU want!

 

I run 285 33s and wheel a lot bone stock. Zero issues.

 

Get the Pro, change the tires, live the dream. I'd have gotten one over my Offroad but the dealer dropped it from 41k to 35k without me really even trying to negotiate. Interior is nice, suspension is more than capable(had it on my OR). I'm still running the stock Pro Fox in the rear w/ a 3 leaf progressive AAL for a 2 inch lift.

Con: Access cab not available. So you get either a bed that's too short or a wheelbase that's too long. That's the only reason I didn't get a pro.

A TRD OR will do all of that easily.

IMO, the problem with getting a Pro to then modify for some overlanding and easy trails is not just paying unnecessarily more upfront, but modifying it and taking it off-road will likely impact its resale, too.

If you plan to actually use the truck, get one you won’t be afraid to get dirty and a little scratched.

Yeah but the reason you get a pro is because you don't HAVE to modify it, preserving the already higher resale value.

Edit: Also its not like your 36k trdOR isnt in the same boat when it comes to getting scratched... Idk, out here where I live I have hadno problem enjoying myself and not scratching my truck, and I like rallying like that video aldo posted just as much as the next guy

 

Well its a pro, which automatically makes it better than all the other trims. Plus it comes with sweet badges.
