Well, I got the rears on. Stock shocks came out easy peasy but man, those lower shock bolts on the new ones were a bitch! They almost seem too tight to fit. Took way longer than I expected.

The lower mounts are a real B if you don't lube them before prying them in. Talked to Fox about this and apparently they did it on purpose. The tight fit seals the bushing (clean the axle mount before putting them in with brake cleaner and a towel) and the metal insert in the bushing allows the bushing mount to move on the bolt freely. I put the pass side on first with no lube, bound it, had to remove, add marine grease, then it slid in relatively easily. Driver's side was good and lubed up and went in wo problems. Just remember the roost shield has to go on before installing the bottom mount. Just a note.

    three questions:
    1) are roost shields necessary -- what's the likelihood you harm your shocks without them?
    2) do you get roost shields for both sides?
    3) what's the best way to mount the 2.0 adj. -117's reservoir up higher and not connected to the main shock body? i've seen people run them this way and i like the way it looks
    TIA!

One roost for the pass side is def necessary; otherwise, your rod will get hosed... And not in a good way. Pass shock is totally exposed. Mount the resi to the frame if you can. I will likely move mine eventually.

You guys made me curious... and considering how stiff my wife's Billy's are, I turned my rears to the stiffest setting and wholly crap batman!!....... Way more stiff than the Billy's!! If you tow, get the CD adjusters. Will make up for extra weight back there for sure. Definitely worth it bc it totally changes the feel of the rear. Seriously, went from Cush to ouch! Love FOX

Gotta ask - what does the "D" stand for in "CD adjusters"? Dial? Derp? Dilemma?

Compression damping. Basically, it makes the shock either super stiff for more weight on the back or super soft for cushy off-roading. Want it stiff if hitting the sand or dirt roads at 35mph+.

CD=Compression Damping - got it. So the dial only controls the rate of compression and the rebound is all controlled by static valving then.

I’ve never used decent shocks on a truck, just on dirt bikes, which do have independent external compression and rebound adjusters.

Put this on the wife's taco yesterday and it is an absolute steal. Added more rubber piping to the heat shield to seal it better. It sounds better than my URD intake, and the truck (after pulling the ecu fuse for 15 mins to reset it so learns it has more air flow) pulls like a mad man.
Update: def buy this if you don't have an intake. It's a straight awesome crazy steal. Growls at ppl when you floor it. Wife loves it!! Also, bilstein setup breaking in, still not as cushy as FOX, but springs take time and softening up nicely.

Update: wife's Billy's setup seems to be fully broken in. Solid setup, but not My setup. FOX simply nailed the valving. So forgiving, yet stiff when you need it. Go Billy on a budget (great upgrade over stock put together the way I did), FOX if you can spend the $$. Worth every penny.

Mully, how are those Kings treating you?

Just got these shocks installed on my truck (plus some SPC UCAs and the Icon RXT leaf pack). It rides like butter now! Thanks to everyone in this thread, especially @Chaz84 and @Mully , really helped me make the decision and I'm mostly* very happy with it.

    8z63pm_ledchp9w726c8D4U611QvWrVyWBbwd1FG_245b0f43be800ed89aa219e953d9079ce2000a73.jpg S0sSvRGYxMdGweh5I4j4btmyqOtDjUIi6ITj_hsr_27f939640f68920b7f859f7bcd7e2a0e9f0ced6a.jpg LH8SQgW6S1s-w5-s0jRRySzwd2Zb_n_eV8IKNDU4_df380ad938bc59045d49cd45b8ff257d0b095581.jpg

*The mostly is cause I was replacing a spacer lift that was on the truck when I bought it and my 285s are now rubbing slightly. I'm debating between turning the coilovers up to 2.5-3" or doing a little chopping at the back of the wheel well. I think I could also bump the caster up slightly to push the tires forward slightly.

Update: Cranked the front coilovers up to 2.5" and pushed the caster out to 2.7*. It still rides great and the rubbing is completely gone! Looking forward to getting this thing on the dirt this weekend.

I ordered front and rear 2.0s, with the rear being adjustable reservoir. Question is, can I run the roost shields without remote mounting the reservoirs?

Yes, you can. I run mine piggyback. But you only need one for the passenger side.

As already stated, yes! Just piggy-back them with the clamps but also know that you only need one for the passenger side since that sits in front of the axle, DS is protected by the axle.

Edit: Annnnnnnnd just realized @Bubble Wrap already mentioned both parts of my post

@Chaz84 @Mully Since both of ya'll have been in this thread since the beginning have either one of you had your 2.0's serviced or haven't felt the need yet?

The CD (compression adjuster) will limit the travel some on bumps but otherwise not help support the weight of a trailer. Optimum shock performance will be at settings closer to the factory setting keeping the shocks internal pressure balance closer to ideal. I want a set!

What’s this that I’ve read you run the risk of the res hitting the axle?! I was going to mount to the frame but I much rather just run it the way you have it.
