If you're switching to flats, don't forget that you'll also want some sticky shoes to match your new sticky pedals. The go-to standard is the 510 Freerider, but you can get away with Sambas, Vans, DC, or any other sticky-soled skate/BMX shoe. Do NOT try towear regular running shoes with them - the pedals will absolutely destroy the thin-soled shoes and they'll never be as sticky as you'd want them to be in most riding situations.

At this point I'm only entertaining the idea of giving flats a go. I have zero intent on switching full time.

I'm down AF for the Wasatch to start getting snow. We have decent riding in the valley for when the snow flies.

If you're trying flats, shoes are critical. I was this close to switching to clip in pedals like I have on my road bike and I bought some 510 shoes. Now I am perfectly happy with flats. If you aren't going to get the shoes as well... don't bother.

Thanks for the word of caution. I already have a set of adidas sambas that based on others feedback are an acceptable shoe for flats.

It was a toss-up between Kansas Crusher and Cornfield Crusher.

I rode at Erwin Park in McKinney and at Isle du Bois State Park the last few days. I just arrived in Bentonville. Just my luck. I brought all that Houston rain up with me. the pic is of the lake at the state park after my ride. those trails were rough. I only rode about 1/3 of the trails. Hopefully these Bentonville trails won't be too muddy.

I'll be there in October. I'm excited to lay the rumors to rest one way or the other (whether it's actually good or not ) haha

Bentonville or Northwoods? I have heard mixed reviews, some say its amazing and some say its just okay and theres a lot of easier trails there and a lot of climbing. I hate climbing

Bentonville. But yes that's exactly what I hear. Seems there is a correlation between rider skill and whether it's good or not.

I’m really trying to make it out to windrock at least once before the end of this year. Going to make it a point to go next spring summer too. I wish they had flights from Memphis to Knoxville because the drive suuuucks
