If you don't get 300k out of it you're doing something wrong.

My friend and former boss (the bar I worked at closed indefinitely for renovations) has a 2005 Honda Element EX with the factory radio. The battery died and now the radio won't turn on. A while ago, I used TW to connect with someone who worked for Honda and had access to the radio code database. I was able to get the code and get the radio operational within minutes.

Honestly, I think my friend should just get an aftermarket radio so we don't have to deal with this shit every time the battery dies, but until she does that this is what I have to deal with.

I might have to take the Element to the Honda dealer (or possibly just call the Honda dealer), but in the meantime it would be nice to chat with the member who got me the radio codes before (I forget his name and can't find out original conversation). Thanks!

Check in the owner's manual and that vinyl envelope with all the dealer stuff in it, sometimes they'll leave a card in there with the code written down. Check under the fuse box lid, sometimes there will be a sticker with the code on it

On most Hondas, you can get codes out of the radio by holding down the 1 and the 6 and turning the power button on. It will display L codes and U codes (4 digits each), write them down and call the dealer. If you give them these (L and U) codes they should be able to give you back the 5 digit unlock code

    Thanks!

I've got all that down; The issue is that the card with the code on it is long gone, and I am trying to track down the TW member who previously tracked down the code...

I am having a hard time reaching my friend right now, which means one of the following things...

    1. I did actually write the code down and put it in the glove box, and she found it.
    2. She took it to the dealer.
    3. She borrowed her fiance's Jeep.
    4. She's just driving it without a radio (most likely scenario).

It locks you out but it's not a big deal, just unhook the battery neg for a few minutes, reconnect it and try again

    Try this - 1 2 1 4 2

I figured I’d call my local dealer, and that’s the code I got...

    It worked!

The CD player works on a strictly intermittent basis; Speakers sound great though...

I keep telling her it’s time for an aftermarket radio!
