    Hello y'all taco peeps,

I'm going to guess this has been asked many times, but should I just leave the dang stuck oil filter plug or try and put it in a vice and break loose. The funny thing is I'm having this issues with my 19 Trd offroad, and my girls 14 Camry V6 se sport.
    Makes for messy oil changes.

Hey thanks in advance to all of you kind folks. I bet one of you knows what I should do with that darn filter plugs!

Welcome to TW! Have you asked the dealership about it? Unless you messed it up trying to take it off that shouldn't be happening on a 2019 vehicle.

Mine is the same way. I have a 2016, and started doing my own oil changes a couple years ago. I think the dealership tightened the filter housing with the plug (probably with an impact wrench). So now when I try to take out the plug, the whole housing comes loose. I just catch the oil with a pan as soon as it starts dripping, then let it finish before I take it all the way off. After that I just wipe everything with an rag before I put in the new filter and put it back on the same way. I tried to get the plug loose while I had it off, but it was tight and I didn’t want to crack the plastic housing.
Anyway, I just left it the way it is since I only change the oil once a year (10k miles).
    Ps. Welcome to TacomaWorld!!

Yes, actually I walked in to the dealer and asked. They denied they would ever tighten the housing from the bottom. No way I can prove it, so if I should worry about the gasket leaking then I'm ok I guess. The weird thing is it's one of the aluminum housings and that's aftermarket I thought. No record of the dealer installing it. Wonder what happened there? When I mentioned it the the service dept. They shrugged and said well you got a better part out of the deal. I'll leave it till I get a new one.

Thanks for the info. That's what I'm doing. Glad I'm not the only one. I think your 100% right about them using a impact to in install the filter housing.
