    Bull dookee.

Ordering a 4x4 SR5 with a moonroof is going to introduce an error?

I understand your point about adding a 150+ SKU’s to the mix, but part of this is purely driven by profit, NOT quality.

It's all driven by profit. The reason any company exists is to maximize shareholder profits. Business 101

Options aren't a la carte because they want to create exclusivity. You want a sunroof, sure - but you have to get all these other things as well and you're going to pay a premium for it. And guess what, most people do.

If they could build the exact same truck every time down the line they would have the best chance of being the most reliable, every single difference between trucks is an opportunity for a mistake.

Have you ever worked in manufacturing or operations analytics?

Every single thing that comes down any assembly line, whether human or mechanical, has some chance for error.

The options we have for trucks are “limited” purely based on profit for two reasons. One - manufacturers can target different markets with different trim levels (e.g.- limited vs TRD OR), they can also create the perception of exclusivity and put a price on that perception. (e.g. - Buy a base model and add your own suspension, tires etc vs buying an off-road trim) Which has a better resale value, a stock off -road, or an SR5 with all the same features, or even better, but added aftermarket?

The second reason is because it’s cheaper from a manufacturing standpoint to only produce a handful of different models rather than let the consumer pick options a la carte.

Yes, the Japanese came in to teach Six Sigma and Kaizen. What I was getting at was introducing more variation to the process increases the opportunity for an error.

I'll get some pictures in daylight for you tomorrow, but I looked at the rims closely and the spokes are recessed below the edge of the rim. I assume you're wondering if they are exposed for damage? Or am I missing the question entirely?

Yeah, that's the new Entune setup. You want remote start with your phone and hotspot in the truck? That comes with Big Brother riding along.

Read about it. Toyota is a LEAN believer. It works. Works for Boeing too.

Yeah I think that is what they are going after. Worried that if the spokes stick out further than the wheels/tires that they'll drag on rocks etc if you take it off-roading.

Believer? Didn't they invent it and most other modern manufacturing techniques?

@FJ-Dan - can you confirm if they added the large bedside cubby on the drivers side?

So I set up the Toyota Connect stuff tonight and I can confirm that you can start and unlock the truck as well as see the fuel level from the Toyota app. We expected this but I tested it and it works well.

There is no bed cubby on the driver side. I’ll take some photos tomorrow from multiple angles and get them posted.
