Got cortizone shot in left ankle today in preparation for grouse hunting. Pain brought the reality back of just how much it hurts, but is worth it. Hopefully worth it. Next week on Saturday starts 3 out of 4 weeks on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Arrowhead actually.

Was just reading the other day that Wyoming has the coolest temperatures in the lower 48 of any other place during the summer. And overall the winters are not that bad, well that is relatively speaking. Hmm... Need sporting clays courses though! Looks like a great trip Rick.

Ya you betcha think I recall talk about that before And iceing them down cause of the heat. And pretty sure their tracks are a bit smaller than up here

Hey I still dropped him.

 

Shoot forgot. Grouse season is open and a friend of mine that is retired sent this a couple of days ago. Rescue setter from Berg Brothers and is a hot and far runner like most Berg Brother dogs. He shot it without a point so gave him hell. And gave him hell over the fact he is retired. Beautiful dog though.



This morning another friend that is a retired school teacher and moved here from Mi. this Spring sent me a text with a picture. Met him shooting and turned him on to some fishing and hunting spots on the North Shore.



Caught 14 salmon this morning at the mouth of a river I told him to hit and then he went grouse hunting this afternoon. Lake Superior may be the worlds largest body of fresh water but it is far enough North that it isn't the best as a fishery. Too deep and cold. But it is 14 more salmon than I caught today.

Common theme here I think is retired...

Not to worry can't shoot them here and don't want to anyhow. Wolves are keeping them below huntable levels. The ruffled grouses on the other hand are fair game...
