I actually notice this on my low carb days when I introduce them. The second I eat a carb I must EAT ALL THE FUCKING CARBS. Ugh

I don’t get hangry either just hungry but I’m ready for some food by 8am

I tried keto not that long ago. It was hard than fuck to get into ketosis. After 28 days I gave up. The worst part of keto was I couldn’t eat as many veggies as I wanted. It was tipping my carbs over. Fuck that I like my salads.

    2200-2500cals per day
    180g pro or more
    110g fat or more
    100g net carbs or less

    Thats my split

Just dont inject insulin, you will be fine.

But seriously, have you explored fat as your primary macro? I haven't looked into it from a BB standpoint, so educate me. Its perfect for me because my brain doesn't crash, which is my money maker at the moment, and I cant always get food when I want it.

What does your macro breakdown look like while eating “keto”.

If you are trying to workout through the night, "Iron Paradise" is a great way to get hurt. Once you get loopy, machines are so awesome - no need to stabilize, no spotter necessary. Commercial gyms have a place in heart for this reason.

Fats and proteins mainly to put it short. Like very very very minimal carbs.

Keto is all fat. Too much protein will kick you out of ketosis

Trueeeee. I just do this during weird weeks at work. Had the blessing to work at a Iron style gym 4-5 months ago for about 2 months and I miss that gym every single day. Something about the powerlifting feel that comes with them compared to the CrossFit feel of other gyms that made me dig deep.

When my fats get too high - I get the shits. I try to limit them to max 110g/day. I will up protein and a little fat if I do no carb... Protein is primary if no carbs. Main reason I do no carbs (here and there) is to keep my insulin sensitivity. I'm not anywhere near the 1k gram carbs most BB's do, but again not training for BB - more classic. However, 500+ will have it's longterm effects.

I'm sit around 50g-80g or less. I can stay in ketosis up to 100gs though, so the wine will not fuck my plans. I will do 100-150gs the days before I do my long 30+ mile runs. Not because I need them, but out of superstition. Ive always "carob-loaded" the night before. Its weird because then I'll eat nothing but trailmix the following day while running, which nets me like 20gs of carbs.

I havent heard of anyone doing this for BB or powerlifting, hence my curiosity. Its great though if you have job where you cant get to food easily or if you crash hard on carbs.

    To fully answer your question,

I try to take down 200gs of protein, 200-300gs of fat, and then obviously my carbs as indicated above.

Bodybuilding.com has a forum section dedicated to keto. The serious keto BB and powerlifters do 5-10 days if keto followed by 1-2 refeed days. Refeed being defined as eating to maintinence calories but primarily all protein and carbs but minimal fat.

I have not found a serious lifting athlete to do keto 100% of the time. But obviously my experience doesn’t qualify as an adequate sample size.

Woah there. Hold your horses. The correct answer is where ever your macros need to be to stay in a state of ketosis. There are a million different "diet" plans, and all sorts of unhealthy fuckery. You gotta measure, you gotta figure it out. It all about you.

Carbs do that to me, particularly pasta. Its like my body wants to relinquish all but my soul if I eat more than 1 cup of pasta

I’ve heard that. You are the first person to tell me that you can do 100g carbs and stay in ketosis though.
I struggled to get into ketosis even at 25g net carbs per day.

I was told you may have to drop to zero carbs to get into ketosis then you can raise them to stay in ketosis but I was unwilling to commit.

I had the same issue initially when increasing my fats, but I started supplementing in fiber into my protein shakes, and it cleared that up real quick. Something to consider if you ever wanted to transition again.

Yeah, thats basically true. Your body needs a strong signal to tell your cells to make more of the enzymes that allow you to efficiently metabolize fat. Zero carbs is a really strong signal. But, once you have made the switch molecularly, you can just hangout. My full 24hr starve days, that I do twice a month, and my routine 16-18hr daily fasts, ensures that my body never goes out of ketosis.
