Can someone in this group tell me if the Yaesu FT-2900 is a scanning radio. When the banks are programmed will it scan one bank? Or multiple banks? Or does it just monitor the channel it’s set on? Thank You!!!

I looked through it, and I didn’t really find any good information while I was looking on my phone. I was going to try again tonight while I was on my laptop. But I have a chance to buy it for what might be a good price with some accessories so I was hoping for some information before it sells.

Yes it will. You can scan one bank, all banks or band.

Finally back legal again. Took a while to have a chance to test but just got my call sign back up. Applied for a vanity though.

Can't believe I let the license lapse!

I’m new to off road with a new to me 2016 Tacoma. Been a HAM since 1993.

I’ve got a few rigs but get most of my use from an OHR Explorer II on 40m, a NORCAL 20 and a 49er on 40.

Due to life (5 kids 9 grands) I haven’t been all that active in recent years but probably need to get a portable rig and figure out how to use mic.

BUT going through my trucks manual (or something as I can’t find it right now) it cautions about adding a transmitter. What precautions need to be taken?

    Thank you

Same as all reasonable rf, distance, power and duration. I only use the power I need (duh) and the antenna is high and to the right. I also am not a major rag chewer.

I’d not worry too much. Properly install a quality rig and follow the same common sense that got you this far!

Hey guys I just got my Technicians license and was looking to install a mobile rig soon. My only real requirement is that it has to have a remote mount face-plate so I can mount it on a Ram ball to the left of the dash. I was also looking into APRS as a cool thing to include as it's used fairly regularly in my local area/club and interests me but it's not a requirement. Just wondering what you guys are running and if you have any recommendations. Thanks!

    Nice job on your ticket!
Speaking of mounts, I put mine on the overhead and have been very happy. Since I control it from the mic most of the time it’s really working out.
