Each branch of service has its pro and cons. If I were to do it all over I would join the air Force.

Not even the massive amounts of sleep? Or the air conditioning everywhere he went? Or the gourmet food at the chow hall? Or the work day always ending at 430 or earlier? Crazy...

June 6, 1944. The largest amphibious operation ever did not involve a single Marine.

I had a bathroom, kitchen and walk in closet in my dorm in Germany. Also, they were built fairly recently when I got there so it had that modern European look.

I had cinderblock walls with a metal frame bunk bed. A shared bathroom (for 4 people) and a sink in the room.....

When I was in Germany it was 2 soldiers to a room and one bathroom for every 4 guys.

That's how my tech school was

There was a dorm on base in Germany that everyone called the projects because it was old and two people had to share a bathroom

Overlord required huge numbers of personnel. The Marines did not have enough people to spare for that.

Rifle ranges are a pain in the ass in the Army too, although it's probably quite different.
