Marine infantry 0311 best experiences of my life. 04-08. Had a terrible times with some awesome people. And everyone in the military regardless of branch has it better then the infantry lol.

When I deployed to Iraq in May 2003, we went to Kuwait first. It was hotter than hell every day and a thermometer in our tent once read 118 degrees at 1000. Ten in the morning. We did not have A/C in the first few months of the deployment.

How about being stationed at MCAS El Toro and now suffering the effects of TCE and PCE solvent contamination . My old hangar #297 is so contaminated it has been permanently sealed closed

My old unit is the reason Marines aren't allowed on Osan Air Base, SK anymore. After they let us on from a 8 year ban from the last unit that fucked the place up lol

Burning shit (literally, human feces) in Iraq with JP8 diesel fuel. I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea in 2013 and I almost certainly got it from my deployment.

Y'all get wild AF in Korea. Been there 2 tours, Kunsan both times. Every time a USMC unit comes to Guam they last about a weekend before they're restricted to base.

I spent a year in Korea. It was super restrictive there in the Army. I had come from Germany where they really didn't mess with us.

I was stationed at Kunsan the same time as a HS friend who was in the Army. He told me he wasn't allowed to leave base without O-4 (maybe O-5) approval due to the previous Army dudes ruining it for the rest of them.

It was pretty bad. I was at Camp Casey and we were allowed to go to Tongducheon, right off post. We had to get a pass to go down to Seoul or even closer places than that. We had a midnight curfew which was not the case in Germany.

Shortly after the Osan stuff, our battalion CO restricted to entire unit regardless of rank to base and went dry.

Same day he did that, our BN Master Guns (E9) got arrested out in town for getting drunk at a bar, running out without paying, beating up a taxi driver and running from the cops with his pants off.

I remember being detained to the barracks at Aberdeen proving grounds in 1981 after a few drunk Marines destroyed the E club on base

What barracks? The only barracks I've ever seen them chill in is a hotel.

Curfew is USFK-wide, even while on leave I had to abide by the curfew. They just removed it 3 months ago and so far it hasn't been total chaos, not sure if it's just AF or all branches.
