Is the circuit board swap pretty simple? I just ordered the AOB switch cuz the darker blue of the CH4X4 does bug me, but I do prefer that symbol.

LOL I put it in quotes because it really doesn't matter. The 2wd symbol from CH 4x4 makes more sense *to me* than the locker symbol from AOB. These are all standard ISO symbols.

I'll snap some pictures. I didn't take any in process but it isn't too bad.

Here is where I tried it
The board swap was a little to touchy for me, on the switches I had so, I just swapped the actuators.

On the two switches I was working with, the terminals fought me a little too much and I didn't want to risk damaging something, so I backed away and went with the actuator swap.

Any news on when this pnp solution for the factory like illumination of the switch could be available?

No ETA. I have some time available this weekend to get things finalized and sent out for quote.

Im planning on installing the 2lo switch in the center console; how difficult would it be to access the 4x4 switch and add this later?

Not too bad. You can pop off the radio bezel and then the HVAC controls come off without much difficulty. It's pretty easy to grab the back of the switch from there to install it. I literally just did this myself the other day after forgetting something when putting my dash back together. It's probably a 10 minute job, tops.

I’m trying to install this kit now. Did anyone ever do a write-up on how to install? There were some pictures earlier in the thread but I can’t figure out where the smaller plug goes. The pictures are kind of hard to understand.

The smaller plug goes into the 4wd ECU, just under the large ECU plug. This can be seen in the install pics, it is sort of an optical illusion.

I just finished the installation. My check engine light is on now and “trac off” is lit up.

And the switch letters are lit up when they shouldn’t be.

The switch is always lit unless you do an additional mod to the harness.

Did you disconnect the battery for the install? If not, pull both terminals (negative first off and last on) and touch both together for 10sec to discharge all capacitors. Also, try resetting all DTCs with Torque, OBD Fusion, or TechStream.

Is there a message on your display about communication to the ABS or 4X4 computers is not working? Make sure the connectors are completely seated in the 4x4 ECU. Unplug them and re-plug them. Does the relay "click" when you press your 2lo button?

The Switch lettering is on all the time.

Double check that both connectors are plugged directly into 4wd ecu.
(There are some other AC connectors that will match, further inboard I believe)
