Tips removing seized bed bolts

Does anyone have tips for removing seized bed bolts, other than the usual spraying PB Blaster and letting it soak? I've only managed to loosen 1 of the 6 bolts so far. I've tried, a battery impact, a pneumatic impact, socket wrench with a steel pipe for extra leverage, but they don't seem to want to budge. Trying to avoid drilling them out if possible

 

Drill and tap.

 

this is where I fear I'll end up be when I return to my rear diff bolt again. The one fukin thing annoys me more than anything is seized bolts. I remember grinder wheeling shock bolts off my old dodge after completing what you've had to do above.

 

The heads aren't stripped or anything, so what advantage would drilling and tapping have if the hex head is intact?

 

Soak them really good. Maybe some heat from a propane torch.

 

BIGGER cheater pipe or impact.

 

I'm trying to avoid the propane torch, as one of the reasons to remove my bed is to replace my leaking gas tank, but they've been soaking already for quite some time

Milwaukee M18 Fuels with 980+ ft-lb impact torque. Run the wrench in both tightening and loosening directions to jar the rust loose.

 

My impact is 650 ft/lbs of torque, and my cheater bar is a 6 ft long steel pipe, so pretty big/powerful already

 

If the rest soak hasn’t worked in 72 hours, it removes the fused material formerly known as a bolt without burnishing the surrounding surface like a torch.

 

Rent a 1450 ft-lb impact gun.

I have a 650 ft-lb gun and it struggles to take the lug nuts off.

 

I think the bolts on the bottom are welded on so you will not get those ones off.

Hopefully your not trying to remove the weld bolts?

 

we get them off with a 1/2" impact after soaking for a we bit. Loosen a little, tighten, loosen, tighten, loosen, tighten, etc till it comes out.

Depends on how bad your fuel leak is a Electric anything can arc enough to ignite fumes .

You are going the correct direction I still get messed up being upside down not knowing left from right does not help me though

 

Yup. Upside down and reaching from the back at a weird angle with your less dominant hand.

 

Just drop the tank.

 

I got mine off with an impact wrench set to low torque. It just kept pounding at them and they finally let go.

 

Clockwise is always going away from you, so if you're reaching under for a bolt that needs to go toward the ground but you're looking from above then you want clockwise. If you were laying on the ground looking up you'd want counterclockwise. Counterclockwise always brings the nut/bolt toward you. That's how I think about it when working at odd angles. (This applies to normal right-handed threads.)

 

Like this guy said, or put the pipe back on it with a six point socket. Put some ass into it.

 

Finally gave up trying to take the bed off after the welded nuts above snapped loose, leaving my bed bolts spinning. Rust is a b*tch. Going ahead with my frame repair without taking the bed off, and so far so good
