That's good to know. My harness is capable of supporting a Hella 90/130 watt H4 bulbs.
I'm okay with the low beam output. It's the high beam output that I was looking to improve so stepping up to a higher wattage bulb sounds like a plan.

One issue that I'll mention. My Tacoma didn't come with fog lights. I installed the Toyota fog light kit p/n 00016-35220 exactly as per the kit instructions. After I did the headlight modification, the low beams would stay on whenever the key is on. I found that the low/high beam interlock relay from the fog light kit was causing a feedback to the low beam relay. I just simply modify the fog light kit wiring for anytime operation by disconnecting the orange/black low beam and the green/black interlock wires.

Be sure to check out the chart in the original post, the Hella 90/130 have very poor low beam performance, lower than a stock wattage performance bulb.

Crash, I just looked at the chart. Interesting that wattage doesn't always equate to brightness. Thanks

Keep in mind the chart numbers are peak lux, that is peak brightness at a single point in the beam. The higher wattage bulbs may produce more raw light, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be as focused to concentrate and project that light as effectively as a lower wattage bulb. It really comes down to output and focus. If you turn up the output, but lose some of the focus, the beam may not project as well depending on how much focus was lost. Higher wattage bulbs use heavier filaments which are inherently less focused, so the gains in output need to outweigh the losses in focus if you will. Vs a high efficiency bulb that keeps the output roughly constant but turns up the focus for achieving projection gains. And the ultimate is of course increasing the output and increasing the focus, which is what the discontinued Osram Hypers did.

I did see a few 85/80w all seasons on eBay out of China for outrageous pricing, although there is one negative review stating the product is not as advertised with no additional info.

The lower bolt is a bit of a pain to get to but it isn’t as awful as everyone makes it out to be, just undo the side bumper skin clips which will allow enough play to get them in and out as I covered in the thread.

Having long arms, I just reached under the headlights and removed the bolt that way. Didn't replace them after, no issues.

Getting the bolt off is easy from underneath, not sure why people make a big deal about that. It is getting the bolts mounting arm out that requires loosening the bumper skin for clearance that is a bit of a pain.

When you installed your new OEM headlights did you have to adjust the hotspot on them or were they good to go?
