    If you’re not actually stationed in 29 with the units of 1stmardiv that reside in 29 then you are there strictly for predeployment workups. If you are in a battalion in 29 then you do deployment workups every week and camp Wilson and little mock towns out there become your second home. You also get used to the smell of shit in the air. You can barely tell the difference between the brown zone of afghanistan and 29 palms. This is true for company docs and some of those creepy little RPs. The hospital is ran by the navy and no one cares about the blue side of the navy.

    Ironically I was/am from San Bernardino county. So...after my first duty station I got orders to the stumps 45 minutes from my home town. It was a bummer. Then again, I’ve been extensively to Lejune and I hated it equally in different ways.
