Opinions on a purchase tomorrow: TRD Sport or Offroad

I have an OR that will probably never leave the pavement. I have a side by side for that. I got it because I looked the looks and need the locker from time to time towing a snowmobile trailer in deep snow and ice.

 

I look at it a little differently. Do you want panties thrown at you occasionally? Youre into your 50s so maybe not. Lol jk I turned 45 yesterday
Sport is sexier
Neither will give you trouble from what I read with driveability.

 

I bought a Silver Sky Off Road today. I love the suspension in it and felt the tires where far superior to the Toyo’s on the Sport. Hated the scoop on the Sport, didn’t like the way it looked or interfered with my vision of the right front corner.

I got $3k off stick, plus rebate plus $4k in the Ridgeline trade. Very pleased with the deal. I pick it up next week when they get the remote start installed. More to come. Thanks gang.

I agree, basic 4wd works fine on most trails, I am looking at Sr5 4x4 myself

 

I went with the Off-Road after driving both. I negotiated a reasonable end-of-year deal on a 2019 DCLB from my local dealership. The rear locker is nice to have in backwoods Alaska, even if I only have to use it once.

I went with the Sport because I spent 98 percent of my time on the road. 4x4 to get my boats out of the water and just in case.

 

I've got an OR. Needed a 4X4 to drive on the local beach. Like the idea of having Crawl Control but I'm realistic enough to know I'll probably never use it or the locker. Other than the true trail guys - whom I truly admire - I would bet most OR guys are in the same boat as me.

So at the end of the day, it really comes down to:

• hood scoop or not;
• painted flares or black plastic; and
• different rims.

I purposely left off the Sport front spoiler because it's practically invisible.

For me, I liked the OR rims better and the black flairs, and the wife "didn't care" (I'm trying to be politically correct here) for the hood scoop.

 

Of course 4x4, sorry I should have noted that. It has the black tube running boards. I’ll add an after market tri-fold tonneau, Pittsburgh Penguins front license plate and to top her off a Phish decal on the rear window. #slavetothetrafficlight

IV heard yes. Makes as much sense as a 2wd Jeep. It has the locker. I don’t know but it should be about $3K less.

 

I drove 3 off-roads before buying a sport. I wanted manual transmission and I didn’t care what truck it was in. I am happier with the sport and the stiffened suspension. I like being able to take corners with no body roll. The sport has a front sway bar and I want to put one on the rear. I got a 2017 sport M/T mgm with 24001 miles 2 years old for $30,300 otd. If I didn’t want the M/T I’d have gotten the SR V6 4X4. No Nuthin for options and upgrade as I need but no screw you toyota with no M/T lower than TRD. With all that being said good choice nice truck.
