    *** SOLVED***

Hello everyone. Need some help! What can I do to improve UP travel and/or bottoming out??

The rear is bottoming out too easily for me. I have a dclb 4x4 tank. By the way no extra weight, just a soft roll up tonnau.

    My current set up:

    Front:
    - Bilstein 6112 coilovers set at 6/5. LOVE these. Very impressed and I don't think I've bottomed these out.

    Rear:
    - Dakar medium EL095R. Handles 1000x better than stock.
    - Bilstein 5125 shocks
    - Wheelers superbumps (awesome)
    - Wheelers flip kit

Any thoughts or ideas are very welcome.

How are you bottoming out? From flex, jumping, or overloading?

There are a lot of dips near my house. My 4runner can bomb them at any speed.

Is the shock bottoming out before the bump stop?

No pretty sure I'd feel or hear that. It's not a harsh bottom out.

Then short of shock mount relocation and longer shocks, 3link or 4 link not much. You should not be bottoming out on dips in the road that easily.

Looks like you have strong enough springs. My guess would be the bump stop is too tall. You could try removing it, replacing it with something shorter, and seeing if you bottom out. But, cut the bolt ends first.

I have nothing to contribute other than it's odd. I have the exact same setup and I am not having any issues with mine, but I haven't really gotten mine to flex a lot either.

I would measure first, that shock fully collapsed is 15” if you bottom them out a few times you will destroy them.

You are right 15" collapsed. Pretty sure lots of folks run the same set up. Good thing they are cheap if I blow them out lol. When I installed I measured. Gap between bumpstop to frame was less than remaining shock travel. I will measure again though, thank you.

It was worse when stock. Bottom out all the time.

Sounds legit. Would I lose down travel in doing that?

Describe how your “bottoming our” feels.

I have the old gen Dakar medium 6-leaf pack and I hear a dull metallic pop (confirmed in the rear) over certain bumps at while turning. Found out (99%) it’s the leaf wrap slapping the shackle edge as it slides aside to side in the military wrap end style

Bottom out as in I'm out of travel, and the weight of the truck quickly comes forward pushing the front suspension down. Like a seasaw.

Yes... The front doesn't bottom out at all.
