EMERGENCY! TACOMA WORLD I NEED YOUR HELP!!! Please read!

Well,

I made a bone head mistake and drill a hole the diameter of a pencil into the fron of my radiator (i was trying to drill a hole to mount a frame for my hella 500 behind my grille:

The hole leaked some green fluid for the first 10 seconds and now is just spitting out some sort of cleaar gas. It has been spitting the gas for about 10 minutes and is not stopping. Will i need a new radiator? can i drive the truck like this to a mechanic or should i get a tow?

i saw this on mythbusters... its not a joke....

crack an egg and put it in your radiator. it will seal the hole until you can get to a shop.

and yes, you will probbaly need a new radiator.

or if you are savy enough, you can replace the radiator yourself. its a pretty simple job.

 

Don't put anything other than coolant inside your radiator! Just get a replacement radiator and swap it out.

 

If the whole is that small a rad repair shop might be able to fix it for you...But a new rad is going to be the best answer.

 

it sounds like you drilled into your a/c coil. not your radiator, our coolant(in the radiator) is more of an orange color.
as long as you dont turn your a/c on it should be perfectly safe to drive it. but if you do turn it on you will burn up the a/c compressor (very pricey$$$$)

 

If you have an 09 isn't your radiator coolant pink? Sounds like you hit A/C to me.

 

toyota coolant is pink and dries a light pink when leaking...

you did drill through your A/C coil...the radiator sits behind the A/C coil...

 

nothing in my truck is pink

 

Toyota's Long Life Coolant is pink...it looks orange under light...but if you pour some out or have a leak it dries pink so that it will help you find the source of your leak...trust me on this 1...

Exactly! I think the other guy that drained is tranny fluid thinking it was the oil and added oil to the coolant or something like that has you beat . I think the radiator would have been a less costly mistake though.

 

I saw this too somewhere. I would try this if I had a leak. Serious. No joke.

If it will clog up a hole in the radiator, wont it clog up water jackets inside the engine? Sounds like a bad move to me. Replacing a radiator< replacing an engine.

If you did hit the A/C condenser DO NOT turn on defrost or A/C!!!! keep it to foot and dash vents ONLY. Or just not run climate control at all turn it off.

 

You got bigger problems than just a radiator, you drilled thru the A/C coil too (clear gas sound )
