Nothing wrong with a Prius per se - it’s just another car.

Think of vehicles like dogs - there are no bad dogs, just bad owners. Likewise, there are no asshole vehicles...

I honestly respect your opinions. I respect point counterpoint healthy discussion. I have thoroughly enjoyed your posts for a long time.

I personally can’t stand these ugly ass, pastel themed lithium abusing market hyped under whelming false promised hybrid of the future cars, at all...zero redeeming qualities come to mind. I like the people who actually think they are saving a future world through the purported R&D premium they dish out, but a decade of tax payer subsidized development has not actually lead to a tangible breakthrough. We put a man on the moon and back in less time and spawned innovation for 5 decades. The Prius is none of that.

I agree that they’re fugly, but after owning two of them (they’re my wife’s) I have a slightly different opinion.

We were rear-ended in my wife’s 2006 Prius back in 2013 by a bunch of idiots who hit us at full speed. Warped the fuck out of the Prius to the point we couldn’t open the doors. No one was hurt (in our car). My wife is on her second, and as much as I despise how low it is, it’s been a damn dependable little vehicle.

Aside from the ride height (which I equate to a dog scooting its ass across the carpet) the most annoying part is that it averages 51 MPG and she won’t shut up about it. “What’s your truck getting per tank now? 19? 20? How cute!” For God’s sake woman, it’s a truck!

You are correct in your assumption of the tax break versus tangible breakthrough, but I think that’s more on the auto industry going “all-in” on hybrids back when gas was almost $4 a gallon. They lost that innovation motivation with the fracking explosion, keeping gas cheap and making larger vehicles more profitable. I guarantee that will change when people don’t want to buy large SUVs or trucks in the same quantity.

Are the tree-huggers “saving the world by driving a hybrid” annoying as dogs running on a chalkboard floor? Hell yes. Do they give the rest of the hybrid owners a bad name? Every damn day. But the Prius itself is a good car with a solid underlying technology that can do far more than the automotive industry is willing to commit to because it reduces their profit margin.

In the end, aren’t THEY the real assholes?

I know it's an empty lot... but really?

And in my haste to point out his parking flaws... my wife politely pointed out mine.
