    Just picked up a 2017 access cab with about 40k. Checked for the Ac drain mod. Not present. Extended the hose and happy with the results. Thanks TW!

    No. It is not necessary anywhere you may live. I'm in Illinois and sleep pretty good without the a/c drain mod.

    Just did this not long ago on my recently purchased 2016 sr5. Installation went smooth and pretty quick! Problem is I haven't seen water dripping out yet. Anyone else have this issue after they did it? I can't see where its kinked anywhere and everything's running downhill. Maybe I haven't had it running long enough? I'm from pa so maybe not warm enough outside?!

    Thanks for this mod! It's been just 1 month since I took my truck off the dealer and I could see the mark of the water dripping over the frame already. Super easy to fix no more than 15 minutes.

    The humidity affects the condensation; I have run it in 90+ heat with low humidity, no dripping. Then run it in 80 degrees with high humidity and water dripping like crazy. Hope this helps.

    I believe the condenser runs even with heat so it doesn’t freeze up. There may be some dripping. Either way, it won’t hurt anything.

    Riding Dirty- thnx, appreciate the help. i was thinking that maybe water in the longer drain tube would freeze leading to a blocking or restriction in the water flowing out.

    Drain hose is the same on the 2020s. Going to extend mine today.


    update: Successfully extended mine. 5/8" hose also fits the 2020s

    There's more than one way to do it. Whatever works. When I did my 2019, I used 1/2" clear vinyl hose and a plastic 1/2" barb connector. The clear vinyl hose is considerably more flexible than 5/8" heater hose.
