I would try 303 Fabric Guard. Comes in a spray bottle. I’ve used it on several different fabrics/materials.

Thanks. I hope it's good to go. If so, I'm also eyeing their awnings. Looking forward to pics

Anyone have a rci bed rack with rtt? If so have you mounted it like this? Just trying this out see if it’ll be ok.

I have a CBI rack, but I’ve mounted mine the same as you have it.

I mounted my this way so the nuts are a little less hidden since I keep it on my truck most of the year. Seems sturdy tho. How long have you had it mounted like that?

    Yeah.
I'm sure it is nearly as sturdy as using the clamps, maybe more since the attachment points are spread out a bit. I've had mine mounted like that for well over a year and survived some of the trails in CO that are like driving on bowling balls. I've got the CBI rack also, which allows for 6 attachment points that are recessed. I'm sure an enterprising thief could get away with it, but it wouldn't be easy and they'd be caught on video.

I would add a fender washer just to disperse the force a tad. Looks like you have plenty of room to and it won’t make the nuts any more visible. I think it’s cheap insurance.

    Yeah.
Yeah, good call, I used some thick washers. A bit more grip but lots more substance. Fender washers can be a bit thin.

I guess that can be true in some cases but all the fenders I have used (electrician background) have been the same thickness. Just wider (1-1/4 or 1-1/2 vs 1” OD for a standard 3/8s washer). You could always stick a couple too.

Sub'd and working my way through the thread. Decision has been made to buy a RTT - most probably a CVT Mt Shasta. We want to swap it between trucks as needed - Taco w/ Relentless Fab bedrails and a 4R. Probably need another few weeks of research to confirm the tent we want and fitment and so forth.

Does anyone swap tents between vehicles? I figure if I do it 6 times a year (and we aren't leaving the tent on a vehicle when it's not in use) it wouldn't be too aggravating.

I've had mine on an RCI rack just like that all year and through some rough trails it's been just fine.

One note on fender washers though, I highly recommend the fatter ones you can get from Fastenal. The thin ones I picked up from home depot really didn't handle being bounced around and they started to bend and lift on the edges.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely upgrade to thicker ones!

You can get the quick release mounts that should make it a lot quicker.

Thankfully it wasn’t packed and weather was great. We didn’t have anyone in any of the spots around us.
