Have any of you ever trained with Chris Bondy?(regular guy training)

I have done valor ridge and am trying to decide between bondy or spending some more money and doing tactical response.

I'd like to do valor ridge some time. How was it?

While we're talking about it has anyone trained with Johnny Primo? We were supposed to have a class in Oregon and it got canceled due to range not having insurance. It's supposed to get rescheduled... Hoping to get the training or my money back.

I really enjoyed it. The rifle class honestly felt a little basic. We didn’t do any night shooting(I’m pretty sure it was in the course description). I definitely learned stuff but if I could have it to do again I would have either done the 4 day class that includes the more advanced rifle class or I would have tried fighting rifle at tactical response. Fun... but basic.

I took pistolcraft at valor ridge as well though and learned a ton. It was a really well thought out class that taught me a lot as a pistol shooter. It also gave me a lot of drills to work on at home. It was definitely a class that exposed your weaknesses which is a good thing.

Thunder ranch is up your way now isn’t it?

Bought some stuff from Aero Precision. Of course, they send me a 5% coupon code after I've spent my money. I already have a 10% code for my next order so first person to use this one can have it.

Getting ready for deer season, and found a round that my rifle prefers.

62 gr Winchester whitetail XP at 100yds and came in at 0.595”.

Should be a shooter come November

I'm looking for lots of opinions, have I come to the right place?

Its time for my first AR. I'm thinking of getting a suppressed SBR in 300blackout (I know about all the tax stamps). This would be for home defense purposes. I'm tempted to build one. Any recommendations?

For home defense as in inside your house? Get a shotgun.

Yeah, I'm thinking of both. This is a great excuse to justify getting both... and then I'll have both, which is more than one.

There is a simple formula for that.

    Firearms needed = N + 1

    N = Firearms already owned

For your first and home defense, buy a quality weapon.

    Build your 2nd and 3rd.

I hear 6.8 SPC and my ears perk up.

I prefer AR15Performance barrels, I had a 16” and sold it to go with 12.5”, I like both but definitely prefer the 12.5”
Unfortunately locally Academy sports is pretty much my only option for ammo, I usually get the hornady 120 grain stuff, I’m just waiting for the 90 grain gold dot to come back, that stuff was cheap and good ammo.

Speaking of training, has anyone heard of MCTA? They’re fairly local and hold classes regularly, I don’t know of any other training other than LEO only training around here.

A few factors need to be determined first:
    1. Budget
    2. State residence
    3. True purpose of the weapon

Like stated earlier, start with a 12ga, preferably a Mossberg 590A1, or similar. Large caliber handguns work well too.

Less capacity, not as easy to shoot as an AR, more overpen with buckshot than 55 grain 223 or a defensive load. Shotguns are not the end all be all of home defense- especially when considering the fact home invasions tend to involve groups of invaders.

    sarcasm?

I know people have always repeated the mantra that shotguns/45s are great weapons for home defense but they are inferior to semiautomatic rifles. Both of those are harder to shoot than an AR and have far less capacity. They also will pen multiple layers of drywall easier than an AR with good home defense loads.

Good video showing how little ARs actually penetrate drywall. Unfortunately no shotgun comparison in this video. Just use the pistol test as a proxy since 00 buck behaves similarly to pistol rounds.
