My bad, just got to CA and work has been kicking my butt with free time. I need to update it. I’m just running the Prinsu cab rack. I was thinking of trying out a different brand or a cheap one from Amazon but figured “buy once cry once”. Didn’t want to deal with any complications down the road.

Nice fish! I've never tried for Kokanee before, anything special about them as far as catching/geography?

In terms of flies, the only double-nymph rig I use for them is a #16 red copper john with a red san juan worm dropper. If I had to sub a fly it'd be a red egg.

Since they spawn in the fall, fall is the time to catch them up in the rivers when they're turning colors. But fish for them when they are holding in pools or deep runs, not when they're set up on redds. Otherwise year round in the lakes, trolling or fishing deeper is how you target them - I believe anyway, I don't fish for them in the lakes.

In terms of geography, you are limited to the lakes/rivers that hold them. So here in Colorado one of my go-to places is the South Platte River above Elevenmile Reservoir (its the closest to me). There are other reservoirs in the state that hold kokanee, such as Blue Mesa Reservoir. These fish run up the Gunnison River, then eventually into the East and Taylor Rivers. Other Colorado reservoirs that have them include Granby, Williams Fork, Wolford, & Green Mountain.
