Should I just take a Saw'zall to the exhaust?

Thanks everyone. I definitely won’t be fixing it by expanding it again. Either I’ll live with it or chop it off and heavily leaning towards chopping it off. If I fix it it’s only going to get banged up again.

I’ll check out the driveshaft closer but I ran my hand over it and the scratches seemed superficial. The pinion and zerk were untouched.

If interested we offer the MBRP Turn down style catback. It is free flowing with a deep tone and the turn down exit has its advantages for off roading! It is also very in-expensive!!

In this pic, is there a dent in the drive shaft at the top? Or is it just one of those optical illusions?

My driveshaft I've been using and abusing for the last 30k+ miles. Lol no vibrations or issues. I did replace the ujoints when I did this damage but no issues since then. Screenshot_20190922-213228_Instagram.jpg

It sounds like the primary tubes were too big to begin with. Most people don't realize that bigger isn't always better with exhaust. Just like the people who think that you need back pressure, which is also completely false.

Good question. I"l get under the truck today after work and take a look but I think it's an illusion. All the marks on the driveshaft are spherical which tells me the truck was moving forward while in contact with the rock, so it wasn't spinning in one place getting pounded but I"ll double check.

@Mobtown Offroad nothing to be worried about with the bent bolt, right? Looks like it's bound to happen given how it sticks down.

No. We used to do it the other direction but it made for a tough installation step so we swapped the direction. Now it’s just a snag point. If it breaks, then it’s a concern.

Great. Figured as much, but it's nice to hear from the people who design and build things. Thanks for a great product! They have obviously paid for themselves already.

Well @09 Redneck you sure have a good eye! It is indeed a dent. It's about the diameter of a quarter and can't be more than 1/16" deep at it's deepest. Unless someone can give me a catastrophic reason to replace it immediately, I'll pretend I was someone who didn't know better and not think about it. If I replace it, I'm sure it will happen again. This is the best picture I could capture of it. It's really hard to see and even hard to fell with my hands.

What I do with my driveshafts to check for twisting and torsional wear is this and works awesome in checking for damage

Take a yard stick and scribe a line from center of yoke to the other .either paint this line with a contrasting color or scratch the paint to get a nice clean reference line

Occasionally like during maintenance intervals check this scribed line . If you start seeing the line twisting replace the D/shaft

You could always take it to a driveshaft shop to get balance checked/re-balanced.

You see the post of my current driveshaft? It's held up for over 30-40k miles.

I'm not against getting it checked. I do understand the concerns. I wouldn't know the first place to ask to have it checked. Searching online isn't finding anything local. The damage is so small I really don't think it's going to be an issue.
