Hey Marcus, do you have the @OVTune? I see that you are getting around 14 MPG? I'm NOT saying that you will get this MPG. But probably better than 14 MPG? Just a thought. YMMV

 

That shiny thing above the cluster is a mylar to put over the piece of shit auto dimming rear view mirror! When driving at night it is worthless!!! Give me back the flip down dimmer!!!!!

That actually made me laugh out loud.
14mpg is the best gas mileage I’ve seen in a long time. I get 12 on a good day.
I do not have the OV tune. Perhaps I should be looking into it.

 

Yea. Unless you are thinking of getting a newer truck hold off. It is quite pricey! I have had it for some years and swear by it! Corrects a lot of problems with the 3RD GENS! Shifting points, throttle points, stutter, MPG, more power (really not B.S. power) torque, just all over BETTER! IMHO. It is a work in progress and getting better every day (okay month, okay couple months)

Oh, spiffy. It's early yet, and already I've learned something new today. I didn't know such a thing (tie-down rail) existed.

One thought I had about @subculture08 's layout was that I would probably have a couple duffel bags sitting on top (backup clothing/travel bag, and backup winter outerwear during the winter season), and it would be nice to have a way of securing them. Those rails might do it.

 

So far I've put on a soft tri-fold tonneau cover, and other than that just some aesthetic stuff. Replaced the chrome surround with the black SR, and applied the emblem blackouts. I really don't understand why the Offroad doesn't come from the factory like that, when it's already got the black flares and other trim bits, all the damn trim should be black. I'll be replacing the TRD decals on the bed with all-black versions as soon as they arrive. After that, sooner or later probably swap out the turn signals and the headlights with smoked-out versions. But those will probably wait until after winter.

No suspension or wheel mods planned for the time being. This truck won't be doing anything but daily driving and hauling the occasional load of crap from Lowes or the lumber yard for the next few years. The most aggressive offroading it'll see for a while will be gravel paths or hauling stuff down dirt tracks at my parents' property, and the stock setup handles that just fine (the locker has already come in handy, though!). I'll likely eventually lift it just an inch or so, but for now, I'm going to keep it stock, functionality-wise. I haven't done any serious off-roading or crawling since I was in college, and I can wait a bit longer to get back into it.

Looks like my two-year-old son is already an offroading fan, however. I took him hiking yesterday, and there was a dirt-and-gravel track to get to the trailhead. Nothing remotely difficult, but enough bumps and ruts that my little dude was giggling and clapping in the backseat and yelling "more bumps daddy!" every time we went over some.
