All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Your preaching to the choir my friend.
Everything on my rig is alum except the steel skids and sliders ;) and it’s one loaded sob already.

Bent Creek Experimental Forest this morning. This may end up being our Friday afternoon ride.

Would you be trying to come in straight to ride or do you want to set up camp? Cant prob do both in the daylight if yall will be in town by 4-5. I've got the route planned for Sat/Sunday, just working on Friday afternoon.

    Proposed Itinerary

Here’s what I’ve got so far, let me know what you guys think:

Friday afternoon: ? I need feedback on who will be in town early enough to ride, unless you're planning to be in town by 4 or shortly after, we will not have much time to ride. I'm planning to be up in Asheville Thursday night so I'll be riding all day Friday anyway. Just need to know who will be joining.

    Dinner/Beers: Sierra Nevada

Saturday AM: DuPont, Big Rock then Ridgeline. Total will be about 13-14 miles with a break/15 min truck ride between parking lots.

    Lunch: Oscar Blues?

Saturday PM: Middle/Lower Black, Sycamore. About 12 miles

Dinner: ? (maybe beers at the Hub, then BBQ at the little place across the street. Or could head into Brevard)

Sunday AM: Bent Creek. Approx 13.5 miles

Feedback is welcome, I tried to keep the routes to a medium distance so that the slower guys will not be worn out and the faster guys will not be bored waiting to regroup too much. These routes will provide a good variety and give a good taste of what the area has to offer for those that have not had a chance to ride here before.

Looks good to me. Thank you for putting that plan together. I just hope that Middle Black isn't beyond my abilities. As for Friday, I will likely arrive between 1300-1400, and wouldn't mind riding that afternoon for an hour or two. Maybe something shorter to whet the appetite for Saturday while not destroying my legs or confidence? I honestly have no idea what trail would qualify for that description.

Saturday looks killer, though, and I really wish I could stick around for Sunday... damn.

Agenda looks great! Thanks for planning it all out. Friday is still a no go for me as I’ll be either arriving super late that night or early AM on Saturday. Sunday will be a game time decision based on how I feel and timing. I’ll need to be back home before too late on Sunday to help with fam stuff.

You’re going to do fine. Ride what you can, walk what you can’t. I’ll warn you ahead of time what’s coming up. I took a big group of guys down this same route a couple weeks ago, with some less experienced guys along.

Heard you ran into my buddy Jeff on the trail Sunday morning. What are the odds haha.

Sounds good. I’m an early riser so I’m down to break camp first thing Sunday and hit Bent Creek on the way out of town if it means more folks get to ride.

HA! I'll definitely ride smart. No worries.

And yeah, Jeff seemed like good people and I'm glad he's joining us for the trip. Small world coincidence, for sure.

    Week of gentlemen.

This trip is getting expensive, and I haven't even started filling the pig with gas yet. Having to scramble to order a extra short/liners, gloves, and a head band since I sweat like a race horse. I'm starting to realize how unprepared I am for a multi-ride trip. My standard one ride a week (or every other) has allowed me to get by with one kit. I'd rather not be wearing soaking wet stank gear anymore than absolutely necessary.
