Had deer fajitas tonight. Slow cooked a roast all day in beef consomme before cutting it up for the fajitas. Fall apart tender fajitas. I guess I mis spoke earlier when I said I didn't mix deer with beef. I do use the consommé in the crockpot.

The dogs get the leftover juices poured over their food, so they think they've eaten like royalty.

Lol, yeah he likes to help but I also made him stay back because of the dust, he and mom share the same allergy problems. He handed me bags and strings in between playing and a break.

Above the window is only attached on the top so it covers the window to keep rain out but ill put some paracord on it to open it on up. It also with serve as a shade/awning when we are hunting hopefully... Also acorns are falling around here and looking alright.

went out for elk hunting yesterday afternoon, but its also open for deer. I wasnt hearing any elk so I did a buck grunt and 2 does popped up, they saw me as I wasnt quite prepared for them to just pop out of the brush like they did. The trailing doe had set of twins and the lead doe was stomping and snorting, cracked me up. They got about 64yds and cut back into the woods.

Evening deer hunting crew. went to the mountains today. we pulled a few cameras and did one last check on a few stands. had a big sow and three cubs under one stand when we walked in. as expected buck pics were down alot. they are hardhorned now and acorns everywhere. mostly red oak. white oaks no so much out here. got a few Good bucks though. this one is 200yrds from my new spot. youngins really liked my setup. one said rite here is where id sit. told him to look. i had already flagged a tree there!02A6C9FA-D423-4EAD-B9AB-8AC2BF45BE8C.jpg9F79DA76-38A4-4066-8184-5B93ED05819B.jpg

It amazes me how much bigger the deer are in Virginia than they are here and we aren’t that far apart. Not just the horns but the bodies. What do you think that deer weighs? 250+? Around here about as big as they get is 200 but most killed are 175 and under. I’ve killed a couple that were close to 200, the one the other day was about 180.

our deer are usually 175lb and under too. in the valley with farm crops you can add 25lbs. the key here in VA would be age. dont want to miss lead. these pics are deep in private land boardering lots of NF. that have been managed for years. we have pics of some for years that never get killed. they are extreamly nocturnal. i just throw up some nice ones for you all to enjoy.we had very few pics this time as food changes, velvet drop etc... a good one for us is 130’s.we have a 9pt that have had pics of for 7yrs. nobody can get him. only see him in Aug. and Sept. then he disappears.

Getting ready for deer season, and found a round that my rifle prefers.

62 gr Winchester Deerseason XP at 100yds and came in at 0.595”.

Should be a shooter come November
