Question on this, genuinely curious. I looked up RCI's aluminum skid ($380) and the CBI aluminum skid ($1,150:eek:) and both are 1/4" thick just like the stock TRD Pro skid plate. Are all of these skid's garbage because they are aluminum, or is it something else?

I can't remember if it has to do with the gauge or material, I just remember when the TRD version came out it got a whole thread dedicated to why it was garbage/inferior and there being better options.

MSRP on a fully loaded MT Off-Road is just over $41k. MSRP on an MT Pro is just under $44k. So a bit less than $3k difference is all, at MSRP. If they sold the Pro in Cement I'd probably go with that. Since they don't, I'm still debating Cement vs. Army Green and if the upgrades on the Pro are enough to persuade me. Also of course is how much dealing room there is on them, which the OR almost definitely will win, but by how much...

From what I'm reading, people that bounce their trucks off rocks don't recommend aluminum skids from anyone. Now, if you're just doing general exploring down dirt/forest roads and not crawling, the aluminum versions should serve you fine. I tried to find what kind of aluminum each manufacturer was using, but came up short. I think, in general, the steel plates are more robust and can take more punishment then their aluminum counterparts regardless of the company making them. I don't plan on climbing rocks with this truck (limited supply in my area) so it should serve my needs just fine. If I ever do damage it, I think I would replace it with steel though. Cost less and shouldn't have to worry about gouges.

Btw, good luck with graduate school. I'm glad to be done with school and hope I never have to go back. I'll go get the occasional certification now and then, but even those are hard to keep with all the "continuing education credits" you have to earn to keep the damn thing.

Put you wont pay as you alluded to MSRP on an OR, already a few here that are getting invoice pricing, should be at least $3k off MSRP. A 2020 Pro you will be paying MSRP.

2nd degree bachelors accelerated nursing program (done in 12 months). My first bachelors is pretty worthless (Natural Sciences) and 10 years as an Air Force Meteorologist did me no favors on the outside for employment prospects lol. But I feel you, I live and breath school, at my age its a struggle bus.

Except I've seen some people saying they have gotten ~$1k off even on Pros. Some say they paid MSRP. And some say their dealers are marked up $5k over MSRP and won't budge at all. So it depends on the dealer, negotiations, and where you are willing to go.

You seem to cherry pick your sources and state them as fact. I've seen mention of people saying they couldn't get below MSRP on OR and some saying they got them discounted as well. Being that they are brand new and still barely on lots, I doubt there are many non-employees getting them at or around invoice, but maybe some have been able to negotiate that. It's all over the place.

Cherry pick, huh, please give me an example and please state anything is fact, simply conjecture based on what has been said already. The guy who bought his Cement loaded at a $45k MSRP and posted it here said he paid invoice $42k, as well as others who have already put in allocations or costco pricing. I have yet to see someone mention paying below MSRP on their 2020 Pro, the AG thread mentioned he paid MSRP.

I've had 9 of these trucks dude, 7 of them I have bought new, I know pricing. But please continue with your cherry picking cr*p. I was around for the great 16 release, plenty of people got invoice pricing then too, including myself.

I ordered my 2020 Pro OTD cheaper than I could build a pro from a marked-down OR. Just played the dealer game right and got lucky at the right time. I originally intended on getting an off road and building it up but at the figure I got them down to I’d be losing money and I wouldn’t have the peace of mind that comes with a non-modified vehicle.

Its all a numbers game, every region, person will be different. Though history tends to lean towards getting a steeper discount on an OR and saving over a PRO even after building one out. Maybe dealers are willing to play ball now on the PROs seeing as so many 19 PROs are sitting, we shall see.

It’s possible I just got lucky with this one, but hell I’ll take the win for once haha.

Haha love how now someone specifically says they got their Pro for less than MSRP (and it only took a few minutes, and I know I've seen others even in this thread IIRC), suddenly you backtrack on your "can't get a Pro under MSRP" narrative. Exactly what I said - depends on dealer, negotiation, and where you are willing to go to get it, didn't I?

Kids are home from school. Got better things than to argue over the internet.

I know for the longest time you either paid mark up or MSRP, pattern continued till about mid 2019 when inventory on PROs swelled and info on the 20s dropped. Friend in region sales told me Toyota over allocated PROs for 19, we shall see what 20s allocation brings. I remember the 17s were hard to come by.

Speaking of seats... my dealer informed me that even though the packages on the website have a leather option the sport and off road models will only come in fabric or a leather trimmed fabric? So I am assuming if you want all leather seats you need to have an LE or PRO??
