It’s disappointing how easily the flares scratch, stain, and discolor. Sorry, I don’t have a remedy.

Mind be able to put some black bondo or something in the deep scratches and use fine sand paper to get it flush?

The ones on my FJ dont get too scratched...they are certainly a harder feeling plastic than what they seem to be putting on newer vehicles. I think the softer, more oily, plastics are more resilient and probably dont fade quite as quickly as the harder plastics...like on a Honda Element, ect...those were always more grey as well.

That said, you could vinyl wrap them. Yeah you'd probably have to take them off to do a good job, but they wouldnt go and chip paint off, nor would they scratch the underlying plastic.

Interesting idea with wrapping them. I might give the slick mist a try...

His and Her Pro trucks :) . My scratches are more heavy.... My wifes are light, so the mist product should do the trick. With mine I am going to try heat gun first, if that fails I'm going to spray with the texture bed liner product they sell at Harbor freight. Used it once before and came out great. A lot of work taping things up to avoid over spray.

I buffed mine out but now they're discolored somewhat. I put some bumper black on them and it helped. Needs another dose or two. Keeping an eye on this thread for other solutions. I kind of like the bedliner idea.

No Bad! Now if we can find a solution for the dulling we'll be set! The weather turned on me today so I need to wait another day to spray mine. I really like the texture bed liner spray from Rustoleum
