Noticed one of my rear Icon 2.0 shocks was leaking oil and was blown. The rear of the truck was handling poorly. Since I am pretty much all highway driving to work and not lifted in the rear, decided to go with the stock replacement Bilstein 4600 rear shocks. I am very pleased with them so far. I will probably end up selling the Icons (they are rebuildable, but I see no use for them). Pics: (you can see where the shock oil leaked down my axle, need to clean that up).

How many miles did you get out of your Icon 2.0s before the leak happened?

Just curious, been reading a lot about the 2.0 rears leaking lately. I've had mine on for ~25k miles and no issues...probably due for a rebuild in the next 10k or so anyway.

Couldn’t find an exact mileage I installed them, but based on my build thread I put them on in July 2013. Looking at some other maintenance records around this date equates to about 95k miles ago. So basically I ran them to failure. Did not perform any rebuild on them. I’d say you are fine. Note this is all mainly highway miles. I’d say this is pretty a good life for no rebuild.

Instructions say to adjust it in the middle. The auto adjusting tensioner should take up the slack, right? @1997tacomav6

It will depend on your pulley size. His belt is slipping so he might have to adjust It tighter. If I put mine in the middle it would slip probably

Next on my long list to do with my Tacoma is to replace the oem radio with another oem radio i pulled out from the yard. The one installed has a white background screen and please note it does not have any problem and hopefully the replacement radio has a different background color. I guess i have more time tinkering with my truck instead of yard work. Thanks

Been a long time since I’ve been on here. Just been crazy busy with life. Anyways the truck started to misfire today (P0304). Swapped the spark plug out in cylinder 4. Didn’t fix it. Then I tried swapping the coil packs and that didn’t make it jump to another cylinder. Tomorrow I will try to swap the wires around and see if that does anything. Any other common 5VZFE things associated with that code I should check into?

Took the truck to get smogged and found out it has an EGR issue and the CEL is not turning on. I have to figure out white bulb size fits in the 95 Taco 2.4L instrument cluster. Also found out it's an OBD2 so I feel super lucky I can pull nice error codes tomorrow.

I did run some initial checks on the EGR system by confirming the solenoid works and the valve functions correctly. Still could be a vacuum pressure issue or the temp sensor though.

From what I've seen so far, and form rock auto, it was showing a 194 bulb? Not sure if that's the CEL or the normal cluster illumination bulbs though.

regular instrament bulbs are 194 (your speedo and what not) the little lights like the turn signals and check engine light are neowedge. Theres a good chance theres a bulb in a part of your cluster your truck doesnt use that you can just swap over (mine had an abs bulb, but i dont have abs so i put it in the chk engine spot)

Thanks! I'll order some of both to have on hand. Don't wanna pull the whole cluster out and find other lights are going bad.

I see so many little things I need to do to the truck to get it into a good condition. I noticed it had green coolant in it as well. :censored:
