Hello everyone, I'm in search for a new vehical and a tacoma seems like a winner.

I have been looking up reviews about them and seem very good. I went to a toyota dealer today and saw a few and found one I really liked.

it's a 2010 4 door trd off road with backup camera

After some talking he gave me a price of $32,582, that's with tax.

So is this a good price or should I try to bring it down a bit more?

But I also wanted to ask, how is the off-road capabilities and how do they drive in rough conditions such as snow and rain?

I also saw their was a recall on the pedal or something along the lines like that, how do I know if this tacoma has a recall on it?

Anything else I should know or be aware of or make sure the tacoma "has" something in it I should be aware about?

    Thank You all

thats roughly what i paid, but you can talk them down a little more. just voice your concerns about the "problems" (yea right) that toyota is having and then walk off the lot. thats what i did and they dropped the price by almost 3 grand

How are the off road capabilities? Read up a bit on Tacoma history and what it's known for.

And if you're looking at a 2009 or newer, which you are, it only gets better. They added some kickass traction control features in '09...assuming you get the 4x4 with the OffRoad package.

That's pretty close to what I paid. I would talk them down more. I mean they do want it gone since the 2011's are out.

You can do better. I paid $27800 without Tax/Title/License. I think you can do 30k even.

Tell them 100 dollars over invoice or your walking. Thats what I did, can't remember price I paid cause I'm not at home. I was on my way out the door and the manager asked what I wanted, I said 100 over invoice and more for my trade in and it was a done deal. I hate the dealing part, but such a nice feeling driving home a new ride! Good luck!

My 2010 4WD DC Off Road is the best driving and four wheeling Tacoma of the three I have had!

Got it last December ($32,000) and did the Mision Santa Maria run last May (see link below) which is the ultimate Baja off road trip... My truck was flawless (as was HB Murphy's '09 DC)... I did come down a rock ledge, which grabbed the corber of my rear bumper, and pulled it out!

The major upgrade over my '05 Tacoma is the new TRACTION CONTROL (TRAC) which is a limited slip that keeps you moving... and ACTIVE TRACTION CONTROL (A-TRAC) which is best described as 'smart lockers' on the front and rear... gives the traction of a gear locker but doesn't affect steering. There is still a true rear locker, but it is more of a back up once you discover the abilities of A-TRAC.

Our Baja group had 3 Tacoma Off Roads, a 4Runner, a Dakota, and a 4WD custom motorhome with front and rear ARB lockers!

If its at the dealer, it most likely has the updated pedal, or the recall done already. Just have one of the service writers verify by the VIN of the Taco you want.

What price you get totally depends on the state you're in. In Colorado where Tacomas are golden, dealers don't have any reason to bargain on interest rate or price. Other states, they'll drop thousands.

That sounds like a good price but if you can bring it down it would be better for you. The recall is not that bad as the news made it seem. The dealer only changes a couple of plastics that are located around your gas peddle and the way to know if it has recall is by checking the vin number or by the dealer checking out the problem. The truck is really good in the snow and also good in mud but the most important thing is your tires.

I have owned Chevy S-10 4x4 ZR-2, Ford F-150 4x4 FX4, and a Nissan Titan Crew Cab 4x4 which I traded for my 2011 Tacoma DC 4x4 TRD off road. I can tell you that the Tacoma has impressive 4 wheel capabilities compared to the Trucks I have owned. Atrac (w/off road), Trac, LSD, rear locking differential. I only have the Tacoma a few weeks, so I didn't get to try out the entire 4x4 system, but if your looking for off road capabilities and driving in rough conditions, I think the tacoma would fit your needs well.

Thank you everyone for your input, however I do have one more question which I could not seem to find online.

What are the small and big differences between the 2010 and 2011 trd models? that's if their is a 2011 trd, I would not know.

    Thank You

I just paid cash out the door of 5,900.00 to my Toyota dealer for my 2010 4X4 D/C S/B TRD Sport V-6 Manual. They gave me 20,500 for my 2008 Honda Accord (piece of junk). That check included all fees, taxes, and i upgraded to the 4 year free maintenance plan. Paying that price is just completely not smart. You are getting ripped off.

The only difference is the grill insert. IMO, the one on the 2011's look better.

Oh and I think you should try to talk them down on the price. I'm currently working on a '11 TRD 4x4 DCLB for around $29,700 so far. As someone mentioned, each state is different.

Is that the Off-Road or the Sport you're trying to cut a deal on? Also, is that with or without the JBL?

    It's a Sport. I'm pretty sure w/o JBL.
