Saw the Icon tool chest the other day. It's nice but still spendy. I mean, I would give it a look if it was Icon vs. super fancy brand so they can compete in that market, but I would get a few of their solid series two boxes and bank the savings. Icon box is bells and whistles but still not worth the premium IMO.

Now if they drop the price substantially...

I'm sticking with my craftsman and husky. No complaints.

I just happened upon the Icon boxes when I was glancing at the 56" top chest for mine.

With the 56" Icon for example, it is 3" deeper, has a stainless steel top option, and has the spring loaded casters, thicker steel, etc, but it is still $4000 versus the $700 for my US General one.

The only real benefit I see besides the depth is the fact it has two full length top drawers in the 56" version at least. But for me that is definitely not worth $3300 difference. They are still less expensive than Snap On or Matco but honestly not by a huge amount. If I was a technician in a shop I would think about getting the Icon but for home use, I love my US General and it does just fine. Might get the top chest in the future but I have the 56" and the 30" tool cart and fits everything I need.

They do have a 20% coupon on their site for all Icon boxes, which is kind of rare for their coupons, they usually cannot be applied to tool storage.

thanks for the heads up on the coupon. this is a bellwether. if they're willing to go 20% off at inception i bet we will see moar discounts in the future. perhaps part of their Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc. sales.

I'm sure it's been covered in here more than once, but rather than digging through almost 300 pages, what's a good impact driver from HF? They just opened a store close to me and that's the first thing on my list.

Yesterday I noticed HB has a 4-pack of 2032 batteries (need by our key fobs) for $3.69.
I was kinda sad because last week I bought the Amazon Basics equivalent for $4.73 after waiting for 5 minutes at the locked cabinet in Safeway for someone to let me buy a single 2032 battery for $3.99 - to no avail.

Dang, the icon tool boxes are a lot. Never mind on trading up from the series 2 blue I’ve got.

I do like their hand tools though :spending:

Snap on, Matco, and Mac. Harbor Freight should really purchase one or two competitors boxes and have in store comparisons.

They’re out of my league anyways even if it was only double the US General box price. I didn’t expect 6x the price.
