My 06 4x4 DC goes in for frame replacement on Monday. What else can I expect to replace?

    Ask them for recommendations.

Shocks, and body mounts help the tech out big time.

If you have a leaking timing cover or headgasket, its way cheaper to do now.

Shocks/struts, timing cover, valve cover, spare tire carrier, basically ANY motor work. Also you get a free coolant flush and brake flush so thats a plus. Replace any crusty power steering lines as well, or the entire rack.

I had them replace all hoses, my serpentine, intermediate steering shaft, put on JBA UCAs and install aftermarket bumper (my factory hitch and rear bumper support were rotted). I wish I had done the steering rack.

Have them check the hitch if you have one and the rear bumper support. Mine was rusted through I didn't see it until after I got it back. I had to replace it at my own cost. Definitely body mounts. Shocks too.

who the fuck told you that? Don't listen to service writers!

The wheels do eventually come off, they usually leave the rear wheels on and roll the rear axle with shocks and leaf springs around so its easier, the engine and tranny are craned out and place on a stack of tires, the cab goes into the sky and the bed removed and put aside. Then the frame is placed on a pallet and everything is removed. old frame gets cut up and moved out, new frame pushed in by forklift. then all components are put on, new brake lines ran, and the rest of the truck is buttoned up from there. But do replace the intermediate steering shaft! Can be very scary if it breaks, and you will probably notice less play in your wheel side to side:)

    Hi Tammikm,

Was your 06 covered under the Frame Lawsuit or 15 DOS warranty. I have an 06 and the dealership told me the 12 yr lawsuit has expired.

Rear wheels don't come off, but 100% you need to remove the fronts to sort out the control arms.

The place that did mine this past summer lifted the body (minus the bed) and the engine/tranny off the frame as one unit. Pretty slick but it also meant that there was basically no access to anything on the engine while they were replacing the frame. There were a few things I wanted them to change but the engine remained in place so....

They did replace shocks, upper and lower control arms, steering linkage, brake lines, fuel lines, e-brake cables and a few other things that I can’t remember at the moment. Some on my dime but most on theirs.

Never imagined lifting a taco up like that to change the frame, interesting process.

He's in Canada. Canadians had until July 21, 2019 to get their inspection done.
