Potentially looking to buy either a dcsb or ac 5-speed. Most pictures of lifted/lowered 2nd gen 5 lugs i’ve seen have been access or regular cabs. Just wondering if there’s any lifted dc 5 lugs out there!:worthless:

Yah, found that out quickly when I started my first thread and most people suggested a Prerunner or 4x4. Part of me still wants a five lug though, just wish there were more pictures so I could see about how one would sit ideally (3in lift and 31’s)

5 lug double cabs are such an interesting specimen. I see them every now and then around Nor Cal. They're the only 5 lugs that got fender flares. They remind me of monster trucks before the show when they're backing them out of their transport trailers and they all have those tiny wheels they use just to move them around. They skipped leg day for sure.

Getting a 3" lift on a 5 lug is easier said than done, so that could be why you dont see many. Basically youre limited to a spacer/block/aal lift on the 5 lugs since most of the aftermarket support is for the 6 lug trucks. Most folks who buy a 5 lug either leave em stock, or slam them. If youre wanting a lift, a 6lug is a better start and youll be able to get nicer lift components

We have DCSB 5 lug autos here as a few fleet vehicles at my work... They do great for their purpose.... dont know that id want that much weight of a DC with the lil 4 banger though.

Also 5 lug rear ends are spring under axle, unlike 6 lugs which are all spring over so you can't just throw spacers in the rear

If you get a 5 lug better get the manual transmission or you will get run over on the road

The first time my wife saw a double cab 5 lug on the street, she asked me what's wrong with it?

Surely they're faster than any 2TRFE 6 lug?

2TR 6 lug DCSB was sluggish even with 4.10 gear ratio.

    What’s a 5 lug ratio?

Never understood these complaints tbh. Even loaded to payload with 32s and stock gears my 2TR has no problem exceeding any speed limit in this country. Are people afraid to rev past 3500?

I believe he was talking about acceleration. Sure the 2TR can exceed the speed limit but it will be painfully slow getting there compared to the the 1GR.

Also way smaller tires. Less diameter and less rotating weight makes it almost a wash with the 4.10 6 luggers

    More than I can afford
One of my old neighbors had one. Looked to have a spacer and an add a leaf and the biggest wheel/tire combo he could cram in there (probably around the same size as 6 lug stock tire size.)

It didn't look horrible. Having driven a 4banger 5 lug access cab shortly before I bought my X-Runner, I would imagine a 4cyl doublecab isn't quick, especially with the auto.

Always thought it would be cool to make a 4 door X-runner out of one though.

Who is complaining? I put 60k on mine before it got totaled.

It’s a question. Not a debate. Surely a fellow owner can discuss the driving characteristics of a vehicle from a perspective of experience without triggering you into some weird defensive position where you suggest everybody but you just doesn’t know how to use the gas pedal?
