That’s what happened to my father. Had some special custom 7mm or something. Only one guy in town hand loaded the rounds for it, he moved and dad sold the gun about the time I got my .243 as a kid. He doesn’t even remember what was special about it anymore. Besides with how ballistics have evolved, you can have a popular caliber, and find a round that will do what your looking for.

yeah I got a few different calibers, but hunting I use 308, 270. Pistol I have 9mm, 40, 45. and of course .22's most common stuff. also .223. If SHTF, I want to be able to find some ammo not some oddball stuff Grandpappy had to hand load.;)

My go to rifle is a browning abolt in 7 wsm. I Have a custom dial on my scope for the load I shoot. I have many boxes of ammo stashed away.

Exactly. I don’t think it will ever be a Wolverines scenario but a Katrina type event is completely possible. I have what I need to send them down the street to someone else’s house. If I needed more ammo, my calibers are something I could find at just about any sporting goods store I came across.

I would hope not, but I also would have never believed they would crash a couple jets into the trade towers either...but it happened. Just have to be prepared.

If you can afford the ammo to shoot out a 6.5cm barrel, it shouldn't be a deal breaker. Barrels aren't that expensive.....

6.5CM is good because the shape of those bullets is optimal. It's in a sweet spot that 270 and 243 just dont quite get to. 308 isn't even in the same wheelhouse ballistically....

    260rem is good too.

Right. That’s why I put my storage stuff on stripper clips. Enough for me and the old lady to have a pretty damn good fight.

Any distance. I'm referring to the ballistic coefficient sweet spot. A lot of 6.5cm projectiles are over 0.5. 308 is in the 0.3 range.

Hmm 308 used to be THE 1000 yd competition caliber. Are you going to shoot farther than that at game? Lol

I’d hope not. Those ranges you start to get well into the responsible hunting argument.

It is. It’s just not enough to care about in relation to drop. Considering the 270 has a lot more case capacity and requires a standard long action, the ballistics are similar.
Posted are 6.5 and the 270. We’re talking the about barely a mil less drop for the 270 but the better wind defection in the 6.5 creed. My velocity is a real one on the 6.5 creed on a magnetospeed and for a 24 inch barrel/ar10. The 270 is using posted box info.
So, more wind deflection, less case capacity/less recoil and just about as flat. If you can’t spin your turret another mil then there’s other problems there. The way these .264 bullets work with the throat, tends to hold better groups as will. Still personally think it’s a shitty hunting round beyond 500y or on game bigger than a deer.

I still have a couple sets (7) of metal ones from service and each me and the wife have a set of megpul. I don’t normally store mags loaded for long term. Had some bad luck with megs down range that were loaded for over a year.

Great point to buy when cheap though! Catch sales when you can.

I bought this deal back around christmas time and somehow got 12 pmags instead of 7. The case fits one AR and a MP5 or two AR's if I separate upper and lower on one.
