Really want to go with 33's tires. I currently have billstein 5100's on my truck, and the 265/75/16 Wildpeaks look so small. Thinking about going with 255/85/16, but they only come in load range E. I go off road a good amount, but I also commute from the Bay Area to San Diego several times a year so MPG's still matter. Anyone have any advice or have any idea what my mpg hit would be? IMG_1089.jpg

Go with a different tire in a sl rating, it's lighter so not much power loss, better ride.

    I don't think they make them in a 255/85/16

Probs lose 3mpg all around. E rated ride fine. Just don’t run them at 40psi. Better for off-road with beefy sidewalls

You’ll take an mpg hit going up from 265s regardless. 255/85/16 is where it’s at! There’s a $100 rebate on cooper ST Maxx right now too.

255/85/16s are legit. But when you're tire shopping, look at the manufacturer's tire weight. I have Dick Cepek Extreme Country M/Ts and they're 50 (55? pounds) vs 60+ for some other M/Ts.

I get about 18-19MPG with E-rated 285/75/16. I feel like the 255/85/16s would be around the same if not a bit better.

Go big or go home. I vote 33's. You put 32's and in a few months you're going to be wondering why not 33's.

    Your long bed needs 33's
I had 275 in load e and just switched to 285 in c. Their actually bigger and lighter for light offroading and more commuting 20190925_030016.jpg

You might explore switching to a 17” wheel. There seem to be a lot more options in the true 32-33” tire range with more appropriate load ranges with widths from 255-285.

I'm in the same exact dilemma... I really want a 255/85/16 C rated AT tire! That would be absolutely perfect for my needs. The E rated will just weigh me down and kill gas mileage but even thats not my primary objection to the available pizza cutter tires... I mainly just do NOT want a mud terrain. I know MTs have come a long way in recent years but they're still terrible in snow/ice and I do a lot of mountain driving in the winter :(

Anyone know if someone makes a non-MT 255/85/16?? From what I've seen they're all mudders :(
