After having owned about 6 different Toyota SUV's and trucks over the past ten years, my wife decided she wanted something else. We ended up getting her a C300 4Matic Sport back in 2008. I have to say, I was alittle worried about what we were getting into, in terms of maintenance and potential 1st year model issue.

However, the car has been rock solid for the past three years and 31K+ miles. Regularly scheduled maintenance is about every 10K miles, or once a year, and has averaged about $300 bucks. The car is super fun to drive, and handles great, even in the snow.

Our only misfortune with the car has been getting rear-ended twice in the same year. The upside is that the car is built like a tank. The last accident, my was was at a complete stop and got hit by a guy going 35-40 mph. She walked away with just a few aches the next day. Her active head rests kicked in, kept her from getting whip lash, the car did the rest. The total bill was only around $4000, which was pretty much just a new bumper cover, supports, and some peripheral stuff. No frame or quarter damage.

Say what you will, but we've been pleased. That being said, she's got 1 & 1/2 years of warranty left. We'll either keep it and get an extended warranty, or trade it for something newer. I've seen what the repair costs can be out of warranty, and am not going to risk any future bills.
