    I had a problem once like that with my kimber mag where it mis-fed when it climbed the ramp... I came to find out that I need to break in that mag cuz the spring on the kimber Tac Mags where really stiff and would Load that round super fast!!! But what I did though is kept the mags loaded and in the safe for like 2 weeks and then went to the range again then it ate the rounds with no problem... Now I'm no pro or anything that's just what I tried and worked for me...

    Ay but can anyone tell me if This is a true statement... "Don't keep the 1911 chambered when holstered" due to the possible chance of miss fire?? Now I know that happened in WW1-2 but has this happend to anyone in the present day or anyone heard of this actually happening??

    All my 1911s have been cocked and locked whenever I carry. That's what SA pistols are good for- otherwise every gun would be DA. No mishaps, period.

    Just curious as to the differences between your A1 loaded and my "Operator" ?
    Looks like you lack a rail and cocobola grips and ambi safety. Anything else?

    No sir. The was my only one. It came together, I just added the extras to it.
    I might build one after Christmas sometime. Right now i'm just trying to get my cash reserve back up from buying my house.

    I know you meant "Accidental Discharge".

    Colt introduced the series 80, which had a firing pin safety to prevent AD's when dropped, although I can't remember any accounts of pistols going off when dropped in my 10 years of 1911 ownership/enthusiasm.
    The safety locks the pin in place until the grip safety dis-engages it when you hold the gun. I think this was a solution to weak firing pin springs which could allow the pin to move forward and ignite the round.
    All the while Colt still sells the non firing pin safety version, the series 70 which is preferred by enthusiasts.

    I have read of one AD while in a holster.
    When you cock the hammer there are two clicks. What happened to this guy was, he had a loaded 1911, lowered the hammer to the half-cock position which he thought was down all the way. When he was closing his thumb-break holster over the hammer it slipped off the sear and ignited the round.

    Might as well carry un-chambered if you're going to lower the hammer. Only other time I see people lower the hammer that gently is when they're afraid of hurting the gun, which IMO is pointless.

    here's mine....my Kimber Warrior that I had re-finished in hard-chrome. I carry it on duty every day I work. It's run 100% since the day I bought it back in 2005. The other is my Kimber Tactical Pro II....it HATES the factory Kimber mags...but runs 100% with Wilson or Chip McCormick Mags.
