Wait until the Tacoma is a couple hundred pounds heavier because it's forced to share a frame and common parts with the Tundra.

10 spd trans will suck and so will turbo lag. All I see is a price drop on 5.7 power plants which is good

I think the 5.7 is going bye bye. Turbo lag can be solved. The trans I don’t know about. It’s possible to make a good 10spd, but I feel most manufacturers don’t probably because money.

Meant the 5.7 will be cheaper for us to buy used and swap in. But we’ll see what happens. Still nothing out there that would make me sell my truck and start over. Next truck I buy is a tow pig.

I don’t like the move. But I suppose it could be a good thing. No way would Lexus put a dumbed down engine in their flagship LS and LX. The LS and LX never shared the same engine up until now. With that move I’d expect the new TT 3.5 to be more bulletproof than that BMW Supra engine.

The Ford EcoBoost is pretty solid now despite what this site might try to convince you of. I'm sure Toyota won't have any major issues unless they make a significant change to the engine for the Tundra.

My concerns with the Tacoma and Tundra sharing the same platform come from Nissan. The Frontier is a too heavy shit show and the Titan was an under built half ton because of cost cutting around a unified platform, especially before the new Titan. I'm hoping Toyota trucks don't end up the same way.

I will flash it same day it arrives, and have it in the mail the following day with next day air service if you need it in a hurry. We can do Priority mail for much cheaper if 2-3 days transit time is acceptable. It's up to you, I'm happy to work within your timeline.

Cool, maybe at some point I’ll mail it to you priority. I’ll need it back as soon as possible since it’s my daily. We’ll work that out when the time comes.

Okay, just checking back now. Circling back to clutch recommendations. It seems the two most recommended brands are SPEC and Masterclutch. Is there any disadvantage for choosing either one? The ones I'm looking at are essentially the same same price. I noticed the clutch on the Spec has 6 springs in the friction plate vs. Masterclutch's 4. This is my first time having to swap out a clutch in any car so I really don't know too much about this.

Which one do you guys think I should order?

Also, should I just get my flywheel resurfaced or is there any benefit to going with a new one? I'm not sure if I would like a lighter or heavier weight flywheel. My truck is my DD, decent amount of traffic (I live in So-Cal), and fairly low speed offroading/dunes. I have a little more weight with a steel front bumper and skids as well as 33' tires.
