ok, let me find out what the plan is that day (my wife is having her wedding shower), and I need to be back around the end of it to hang out. I was planning on riding that day, although more locally, but I'd like to go try something new.

My ID Taco is not a 3rd Gen. But it is my favorite because of where it has taken me.

In the past I’ve run mixed tires. Usually higher volume/big tread front and narrower/fast rear.

My reasoning was that I wanted higher volume(wider) in the front to help get over obstacles and a little better traction. Also a more aggressive front to help with cornering, usually bigger side knobs.

In the rear I was mostly trying to run the lightest tire I can get away with for the sake of my laziness haha. Now that I ride a 29+ I feel like I wouldn’t notice the weight either way though. Although the wheel set I’m running on my 29+ is probably the nicest I’ve ever run so might not be the best comparison.

I wish... was just up there last Saturday... so much fun... trails are pretty hammered up there this late in the season. You can tell not a whole lot of grooming is happening.

If you find a better way let me know haha. I use a fanny pack and stuff strapped to my frame most of the time...

    So much this.

Love the carrying capacity of backpack with a bladder. Loathe the sweaty back.
I don't mind a bottle cage, but my frame will only accommodate one bottle mount and with limited bottle size compatibility. The frame design also has me putting by tools/spare parts strapped to my top tube which I hit my knees on from time to time. Tolerable but not ideal.

I just picked up a small Dakine fanny that can hold another bottle/tools/spares. Not thrilled with the idea of this setup either, but I'll give it a go. A single bottle just isn't enough H2O for me when its f**ing hot.

Don't forget about how effective saddle bags are. I have a tube strapped into front triangle, bottle cage, and saddle bag (levers,co2,multi-tool)

Good for 95% of my rides

This seems like a good place to ask a question about bike selection. I come from a BMX racing background. I’m trying to decide on a general purpose bike 5 11” 190lbs 30” inseam short legs long torso. My 6yr old daughter is really getting into riding so I’m going to get something to ride with her. My budget is in the $800 range. Definitely consider a second hand bike.

Ah the saddle phag bag. I kid.

Its the hydration side that I fall short on and that I'm still looking for an ideal solution; aside from just rolling with a pack 100%.

@jeff b While looking at that bontrager fanny, I found this. Pretty sure this is the pawl/spring kit I mentioned to you a while back.

I have the same Dakine 2L pack, I love it minus the belt slowly loosening while riding, remedied that by putting a few stitches to keep it in place. Lately since it's got cooler I have been leaving it behind and just brought a tube, pump and bottle all attached to the frame
