MESO Puddle Light build

Lol I was hoping that was the case but there's a barrier between that and the rest of the door l. I tried fishing it out when I could see it barely on the left side and then I knocked it to the right where I can't see it and it seems to be trapped.

 

The only thing I did differently was removed the window switch panel. I struggle with unplugging the plugs while holding the trim panel. Removing the windshield switches had them pop right out.

Also the Reacher Grabber Claw thing makes it super simple for fishing the line through the door, across the truck and up behind the driver side. Didn't have to take anything apart there.

 

The switch panel can be squeezed between the flexible door plastic without unplugging anything. That's what I did at least, left no scratches or warping if done carefully.

 

I am a little curious, I will admit something. Not during this install but last year when I did my speakers, I didn’t reconnect my door latch cable properly, the ball didn’t catch correctly and couldn’t get out of my truck... anyone else do this?

I think a few people did, especially when the speaker upgrade was peaking.

 

Speaking of which, I never had to pull those cables out either. Just popped the whole handle off with cables still attached lol

 

Yeah my driver side handle came off when I unscrewed it. My passenger stayed connected so I just went with it. The next few times I took of my panels I left them connected.

 

Definitely did this. I was getting tired and forgot it on the passenger side. Went to lock the truck and heard an odd noise and noticed the door didn't lock. Of course it was just when I thought I was done.

 

I pulled my cables and relubed em w silicone grease.

 

Finished my install this past Sunday. Took me about 4 hours but at the same time I had the door panels off I was installing sound deadener and foam in speaker holes. Little blood, a lot of sweat, maybe a few tears but I finally got this install done. Thanks Meso, another fine product.

So here I am, all excited to install my puddle pods, I’m out in my drive, daylight rapidly going after work, and of COURSE the big connector on the drivers side is being an absolute f*****g bastard and will not come off. Like I’m literally underneath the door panel with my head, I can see the push tab on the panel side of the connector, I’ve actually broken the small loop piece that runs around the push tab pushing on it trying to get it to disconnect and I swear to christ the thing is glued in. It WILL NOT disconnect.

I’m so pissed at it right now it’s unbelievable. lol

 

By the way, when the switches do come out, I would like to use that switch where I have my ECT now. But I need the Stealth Pro Shift knob with the ECT so I can use that button space. Anxiously waiting for both items to be released soon.

 

I mentioned only a few posts before. You DO NOT NEED TO DISCONNECT it. Just pop off the entire window switch unit and maneuver it through the flexible door plastic. Takes seconds.

 

Didn’t see it, sorry. I can see some screws underneath. Any of those need to come out to remove the panel?

 

Nope, the switch panel (giant rectangle with switches with window switches) comes off with a push from the back or a pull from the front. No clips. No screws.

 

MOTHERF-..... hahahaha... yup, popped right out. That really should be changed out in Meso’s instructions. lol Thanks bud, if I were closer I’d buy ya a drink.

 

Instructions were made for the "CORRECT" way to do things. But here on TW we always find shortcuts and everyone has different methods. The guide is a guideline to help get you on your way. Glad I could assist though. I had this issue too, I got frustrated and found out this method on my own and was super stoked. Now future speaker upgrades will be super easy.
