I am a #9 fan but I expect the car in victory lane will have an 11 or 18 on it.

You know it's a strange week when the first non JGR car on the final results is Ryan Newman.

Another top 15 for Matty D. Future looks great.

I think Beuscher will make a good teammate for Newman. Neither of those guys tears up a lot of equipment. They are consistent and had had some good runs this season. Beuscher was looking sharp the first half of the Southern 500, but faded late.

Now I wonder who's headed for that empty JTG seat. Hemric? I believe Hemric & Preece could do well with Cup experience and good equipment. Especially Preece.

I think Ricky's time is up at the cup level. He tears up to much equipment to get picked up by a budget team. At least everyone will be able to exhale at the super speedways without the Ricky factor. The sport is better off without him. He overdrives cars and clearly does not have the talent to compete in the arena he is in.

I expect he will take the 41 or the 10 but I think the 10 has better funding that the 41 so I would put my money on the 41. Some of the veteran drivers will have to start retiring to make room for the young guns these teams are investing in. I expect in the next two years the following will be hanging it up:
    Johnson maybe one more season
    Harvick 1 -2 years max
    Hamlin maybe 3 years
    Boyer 1 - 2 years
Truex Jr in about three years
Kurt Busch in the next year or two
Kyle Busch in the next five years

I agree, they are moving guys up way to early now. Most of these guys hit there stride around 30 - 35 and really know what they are doing around 40 and can be competitive until 45 in most cases but the teams are moving these guys up to the top tier a decade before they should be. This is going to create a field full of drivers with 20 years left and no seats for new talent, only 10 cars are really any good and everything else is junk running for who is king of the mid pack. They should set it up like the old IROC, teams get the weekend to work on equally prepared cars then let the field have at it.

One of the major problems we have with the legacy drivers like Dale Jr and Chase is that we expect them to have the talent there fathers had and in most cases they don't. Keep in mind those are my drivers. Dale Jr admitted he never knew how to set a car up for speed over an entire run and that is why he never achieved the things that were expected of him. Chase is okay but would not be where he is if he were not an Elliott. I mean look at AD in the 3. Do you really think that punk deserves a ride. NO! Even TD would not be in the 13 if not for his connections.

I don't follow Nascar like I used to but I used to be into it big time in the late 70s thru the late 90s. I still have boxes of vintage cars, autographs and other memorabilia. I can still remember going to races twice a year and always tried to take in a different track every year. Loved going to Charlotte and Martinsville. I have over 300 autographs from that era that I collected on my own and also had family that worked for Billy Hagan and also for a Nascar publication I believe was Speed Weekly. The pics are some of the things I still display. Harry Gant and Bobby and Davey Allison were my favorites. Still will watch a race now and then. models hot wheels 064.jpg models hot wheels 060.jpg models hot wheels 060.jpg models hot wheels 062.jpg models hot wheels 075.jpg

If he keeps competing at a high level... I dont see him vacating the 4.

Same with Denny and Kyle. Wins keep you relevant.

Jimmy and Kurt on the other hand... we found out the former cant win without CK and the latter lucked into a championship and hasnt really been top notch competitive since leaving Roush.

Custer and Preese deserve a shot with top tier equipment

You and my dad would have had much to talk about... he was a huge Allision fan.

Also... is that an Irvan era 4 car in that second to last pic?
