    I'm down, let's go.

Story time: I started out playing football and basketball, I was about 225-235 as a LB and DE. Went in the Air Force at 18 and dropped down to 196lbs cause all I did was run and do PT tests. Got up to around 240lbs but wasn't really lifting with a goal, was just doing push ups, sit ups, and running, aka military stuff. Got out in 2015 and did absolutely nothing until late 2017. I got up to 270lbs and was kinda fat but strong enough so I started CrossFit then moved to straight Olympic lifting. Once I found out how much the heavyweight guys were lifting in Olympic movements I decided I didn't want to commit my life to only that style of competition. From then I started doing a few powerlifting comps, as well as playing semi-pro football and working on a 5-3-1 program. Found a random strongman comp and loved it, felt like I found my niche and I was already stronger than most the competitors. I have a larger frame as most around here are under six feet and over 320lbs... aka fat and slow. So I cut back down to 260lbs and started building and now am back to 300lbs and "fairly" lean for that weight.

So to answer your question I didn't start "young" like I wish. I'm 28 and only been training strongman for about a year now, but I wish I had found it years ago. There are other things I could do and am good at but this is so much more fun. I'm naturally built for it and athletic so that helps. It sucks starting this late because even though I'm strong, I am not as strong as Pro Strongmen my age, nor as strong as I could be if I had started at a younger age.

Thank you for your service sirrrrr.

but that’s actually really cool how that worked out. It sucks whenever you get into something older than most because like you said... younger ones are already ahead of you.

looks like you’ll be killing it in no time and whooping the pros

Im up late working, and my mind started to wonder... I ended up calculating my dog's macros just because I could. I decided my pooch needs more protein. He is a 115 lb malamute-German-shepard. My main running and skiing partner too. Anyone else do silly things like this?

    Are you losing weight?

Weight loss is a means of measuring caloric deficit. You don’t always need to be scientific in tracking calories and macros. Just eat well and use the number on the scale. Outside of the Oreos the pictures you post of your food look like you have good variety and a good whole foods based diet.
Portion based on hunger and the scale.

I personally don’t feel being hungry is necessary for weight loss. I’ve lost my last 10-15lbs not being hungry. It may just be you need to change around what you eat. If you find the scale is not moving, cut your carbs before cutting overall portions. If you find you are hungry and aren’t losing add more fat in your diet.

Not everyone is a food tracker. There are a lot of successful athletes that will tell you they don’t track a calorie or macro.

With protein shakes, only consume them if you like them. There is nothing magical about even the most expensive whey isolates let alone any other.

I personally don’t like wasting #1 money on powders and #2 wasting calories I could be consuming in delicious real food... or beer.

180.9 this morning. It’s funny how the body works. Remember when I was stuck at 200. Then got stuck at 190. Then 185. And now I have been hanging around 181-182 while slowly trending down into 179-180 territory.

it’s like your body kinda picks a weight and hangs out there for a while. Can’t wait to get down to 170-175.

But having to buy new clothes while doing this journey freaking sucks lol

If only I could like more than once....

From my own experience, you are spot on. If your mentality is that you have no desire to track or get any real info from it, no need. Personally I don't get into any tracking, no steps, no macros, calorie counts, etc. I just have made a concerted effort over several years to change my eat habits. As said, you do not need to be hungry, but you will need to change your habits to (eliminate|reduce|replace) the crap stuff and increase the productive stuff. You just need to understand your own mentality and adjust according to what works for you.

After that, it's just the Jethro Plan, gazinta < gazouta (some of you young'ns may not get that)

Kinda the way it works when you're doing it right,,, slowly and integrating habits that you will stick with, as opposed to some temporary "diet or plan", then when you reach some goal, stop and go back to your old bad habits.

As for the clothes, wear 'em baggy.
