Even after all the negative I've read here, I still want one. Am I crazy ?

Buy, drive, and enjoy. When properly maintained, these trucks should last a long time.
    Welcome to the show.

I'm not going to read the 63+ responses in the last 2 hours, but if it hasn't been mentioned, you must realize that only a miniscule percentage of Tacoma owners participate here. Go get your new truck and enjoy it! It's a great vehicle.

Like others said... and the vast majority who do not have any problems also, do not visit forums and brag about how much they like their truck, chainsaw, stereo, phone...

    Alright OP,

I apologize for my outburst. It was early. And clearly I was being a dick. The Tacoma is a great truck. That being said there are minor issues, but no car is perfect. Most of the people on this forum will praise the Tacoma. Like myself. However , of course there will be some negativity. People like to complain.

I hope we can be friends on this forum. I’ll need some help getting that log out of my ass.

Well said. The thing about test drives are they are usually pretty short. You’re in a vehicle that is entirely different and drives different as well. Your processing a lot of different things in a very short period of time. So your brain is scattered. Also you may assume something like that is just a normal characteristic of the vehicle. It’s a lot for people to process. Also most people only test drive 1 vehicle. So you really don’t have anything to compare to.

I took my truck for a short drive. I worked at the dealer and it was on company time. Just whipped it around a couple of blocks. Obviously I thought it was a dog compared to my F150 ecoboost. But for me the payment was less, and it’s a truck so that’s all I really cared about. I never even used the cruise on the test drive it was at highway speeds.

I think that’s why a lot of members turn here for info. They don’t know if something is normal or not.

It’s the #1 selling midsize truck for a reason. It outsells every single competitor by a wide margin.

I never test drove one at all. I was trading my 06, and this is was (still is) the only game in town. No way I'd go to GM or Nissan. Ranger wasn't out yet, and the Gladiator is really a different entity. (also not around then).

What is the total number from 16-19 ... last I checked was about 800,000 trucks ?

vs the total number of members on this forum (not all of which are 3rd gen owners) I dont know how to look this up.

What issues???? These trucks are great. Especially coming from a BMW X5 twin turbo v8 that costed me 2k-8k in repairs every time I went In for maintenance. The cost to maintain a toyo is cheap!!!! Plus it does a great job hauling pavers, fishing and shooting gear.

Just get one. You’ll be happy.

Don't like the original post? "Then be on your (MERRY) way." You're crazy. You're annoying.
To the O.P. buy a Tacoma. Love it. If you find something about it you don't like someone here will have an idea how to modify it. My 2018 TRD Sport is close to perfect, still a masterpiece work in progress. You'll have it more than 10 years. I drove my 1974 Landcruiser until 1993 when I sold it. Just gave a great running 2003 Corolla that I had since new to my nephews. There are many perfect vehicles...most are Toyotas.

With the great resale value I wish these complainers would trade the fuckers in and be on their way. I've enjoyed my new 19 the last 3 months and don't regret it, I've wanted a tacoma for the last 15 years and finally got it.

There are alot of ways to spend money on them. Just keep in mind, the bigger the tires and lift and the heavier you make it the less power you will feel. Sucks seeing so many people modding the shit out of these trucks to sell them so soon. Mpg isint the greatest, but considering these have almost the power and capability of a full size from the early 2000s and have better mileage than those id say it's ok.

Plus, you can't beat the look of a lifted, big tire taco
