Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Thanks... Your $0.02 contribution is appreciated. Every little bit counts!

It just seemed to make sense that there would be some (potentially significant, possibly trivial) downside to venturing outside the manufacturers recommendations. Not sure who else to ask. The Fuel site doesn't even have contact info for technical questions. I could call Cooper, but my chances of communicating with someone with an informed opinion would be slim to none (based on past experience*).

    * - I often ask questions via email, sometimes just out of curiosity, of companies through their "customer service" or "technical support" contacts. Success rate (getting a reply with relevant and/or useful info) is in the %5 range.

He disappeared after he got new tires put on. Still have no clue what issues he was having because mine have been flawless.

Finally got rid of these pieces of shit this past Friday. Could not be happier with the Defender LTX MS2's that replaced them.

Still loving mine! Good luck with your new tires. Hard to go wrong with those LTX MS2’s for highway driving.

I have the LT’s on my sequoia for a little over 20k miles with about 12k miles of those miles towing a 6500lbs trailer and they are wearing great. Have XLT’s on the Lexus with about 5k miles. Holding up to the abuse that I am throwing at them.

Interesting that your siping disappeared in 10k miles. My 4S’s have about 23k on them and siping is definitely still there and rain/mud traction has been good as ever.

I’m hoping I’ll get through this winter and next summer and be ready for new tires in fall 2020. First snow will likely be this weekend.

Michelin’s are great tires though no doubt, I’m sure they’ll be good.

You are about at the point on my LT's when i saw a complete 180 in performance @ 15-20k miles. Do you still have siping in the tread blocks that goes all the way across?

4S's came out about 3 months after i got my LT's. Their tread and siping is completely different to address lots of the shortcomings of the LT tread pattern.

Just got the XLTs installed today! 285/75/16, so far no rubbing at full lock forwards or reverse. Will see how they do off road this weekend.

My Review of the Cooper Discovery XLTs in 285/75/16

I have owned these tires a little over a year now and I have racked up close to 15 thousand miles driving them on mix of Rainy, Snowy, Icy, and Clear roads and highways on the avg of 20-30 miles per day in Southern Maine. I have also done several Off-Road adventures exploring NH class VI roads as well as some VT class IV road where I have encounter my share of Mud holes, Rock Crawling and Dirt Roads, and these XLTs have more than met my expectations compared to the Toyo AT2 that I owned before.

The Toyo AT2s I had before were good tires in most of the same situations but I feel that the Cooper XLTs just outperformed the Toyo’s with
    1. XLTs are so Freaking quiet, Oh my god they are so quiet it almost like having a highway tire. The Toyo AT2 had a little howl day one that got really bad around the 25k mark
    2. XLTs has better road manners on the highway in that they just go down the road. The Toyo’s seemed to like track the grooves in the road.
    3. XLTs does better with water on the road. The Toyos were OK around town but at highways speeds I thought I was going to lose control because of Hydroplaning.

A few PICs of what I have put the tires through Off Road

This is great! To point #1 this is the first thing I noticed. They are so damn quiet! Truck feels like it’s back on the stock wranglers on the road.

    Quick review, P265/70R16 AT3 4S.

Prairie Canadian. (previously had duratracs and hankook ipike studded)

So far, dry is quiet, rain/wet is way better than I could as for. Soft on corners, dont care.

Mud, it doesn't self clean as well as my duratracs, but its a P tire with only 12/32nd so I'm happy with what it does.

Winter driving. I use a lot of back roads, so heavy mud, snow, and slush, it kicked ass and let me bypass traffic like a tv commercial. Really good in snow.

On ice, it's not a winter tire, but far better than any all season tire I've driven on. I'll likely run a true winter next year, but I'm not afraid of ice so far.

Very good all around tire, looks way better than most P-metric all-terrains.

Just took off original Michelin LTX M and put on Cooper AT3 4S. Love them after a mile on the road. Great look for the truck with the OWL.

I got my AT3 4S' last week. On impulse at the minute I bumped up from stock to 265/75 R16. The 265/75 tires are listed as 1 pound lighter than the fatter 265/70-R16 size. So I'm hoping I don't get a significant drop in MPG.

I've got 300 miles on them. They seemed good offroad in a snowy and muddy parking lot. On the highway they are a bit louder than the stock Wranglers but not unbearable.

For those with the 265/75-R16 in the 4S / 3 ply version, what pressure are you running? The tire shop gave me 37 in the front and 33 rear. 37 seemed too high. So I aired down to 33 in front. On country roads high speed cornering is not as good as the stock tires or my snow tires. They wonder and float a bit more. This may be because of the taller size. But maybe I need to increase pressure back to 37?

OK I'm about ready to pull the lever on the AT3s. I drive on snow about 5 months of the year but also do a lot of rocky Forest Service roads, so I'm flipping between the 4S and the LT (C-Rated). It seems like the LT is a pretty good snow tire, but the 4S is a little better, hence the snowflake? A big difference between the models in the snow? The LT (C) comes in 265R75/16. So far I haven't heard of any rubbing problems. My Taco is a '16 OR with small mudflaps. I think I'm leaning towards the LTs because of the 6-ply sidewalls. A good choice??
