I found this story interesting. It sounds like Ford recognizes that Toyota is their biggest competitor?

leases might be the safest option for a ranger right now.

Nifty move by Ford to restrict the deal to non-Ford vehicle trade-ins. It may lure a few buyers, but I doubt it will have much of an impact on Ranger sales.

. . . "SR 4x2 Double Cab with 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine." Totally apples and oranges. Not comparable vehicles AT ALL!

The only thing the Tacoma 4 cyl, and the Ranger 4 eco-boost have in common is that they both burn gasoline, and breath air. Weather you like it or not, the Ford wins this one.

Of course. I’m not hating on the Ford, in fact that’s what I would rather have out of the two. I’m just saying that’s Toyota’s lowest offering model vs Fords.

I was thinking that a closer comparison would be an SR5 2WD V6, since the 4 is Fords only offering in the Ranger. The SR, is just basically a plumbers work truck.

That SR wouldn’t hold 1/4 of my tools, it would be on the bump stops.

not understanding how 4 CYL 2WD is "almost identical" to a V6 4WD of any trim level. Let's focus. I'm not bashing the base SR. I just think that those lease prices in the article should have been more in line with a base SR5 V6 2WD.

They are comparing lease deals not models. Toyota’s lease is with their base truck. Ford is offering their lease based off Toyota’s. Offering their base model as well for the same price with an extra credit available.
