I wasn’t asking for justification on purchasing the truck, I was asking tacomaworld if it was a good deal like I thought it was because I wanted opinions from Toyota guys that know their shit

It’s not. If it was me and I was dead set on getting one, I’d just go full retard and buy something new for a little more. Or find something in good shape with lower miles at a more reasonable price.

For me its not so much taking out a loan, but to do so while in college and having no idea what the job situation will be upon graduation. There is no guarantee of a good paying job right away, and he does not need to extend himself right away. No one needs a nice vehicle to get back and forth to work and the grocery store. Once the OP has a good job and has stashed away a month or two worth of paychecks in the bank, then the hunt for a nicer vehicle can begin.
Like I stated earlier, I am paying cash for an older Ford Ranger for my daughter. It will get her to work and the store and back, then she can decide what she wants once settled in somewhere. She is in accounting so I am not worried about her overextending herself, but OP even stated himself that payments may get tricky. If you think they can get tricky, its best to find a different avenue.

Thank you for the caring advice. I have a few months stashed for a down payment so I would be financed to about 19k. I don’t have any expenses other than food/gas etc , I blew my truck up a few weeks ago and I can sell that and the wheels/tires for a few grand. I might just buy it and blame it on the fact that I’m “young n dumb” ;)

I thought it would go this way.

This wasn’t an “I need advice” thing. . .;)

Instead you got bunch of dads giving you financial advice, lol. "Good deal" varies by region. In some regions people will give their left nut just to be able to buy one, in some they wouldn't touch it with a 10' stick.

Lol, I guess I fall into the latter category.

So out of curiosity, what “region” are we talking about where otherwise reasonable thinking folks are putting themselves into debt they can’t afford, and selling their body parts to buy trucks with 90k miles on them for slightly less than a new one?

I want to know so I can sell mine when the time comes. . .

I’ll have to take your word for it. Seems crazy to me but then it is California... another reason why I wouldn’t live there.

That’s the thing about validation. You can get 100 to 1 against and you’ll still ignore the 100 in favor of the 1.

Ahhh to be young and dumb again... :D
