Well it sounds like you got some opinions from "Toyota guys that know their shit". Just not what you wanted to hear. I didn't hear a single person say "good deal". There you go.,

At this point it sounds like people on here usually say "Welcome to the Club". So...go buy the truck and have fun. In 20 years the cycle can repeat and you can take your turn at being dad.

Did you give him any advice? No.

You just complained because your dad walked out and your grandpa was an abusive alcoholic.

Nah, they were all around, emotionally available, and filled with good advice.

    Whats your excuse?

Well, now that have settled on the sound financial decisions, lets talk car stereos. That truck isn't getting any college girls in it without at least a 15K stereo.

What would you do at 90k. Pretty common service interval. That is if the previous owner even did any maintenance Could of just ran it into the ground and traded it before the warranty was up.

I didn’t do anything at 90k but an oil
Change and diff fluids. Just wondering what led him to think it would need a “full overhaul”.

Just because something is a good deal doesn't mean you should buy it. You can go broke "saving" money if you know what I mean.

Does anyone have a "must do" maintenance schedule beyond what is listed here?:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-diy-maintenance-quick-reference.406712/

I know for other vehicles (especially 4 cylinder Subarus, but they are by no means unique) there were preventative maintaniance that was learned and 90K was when it had to be done, and it not done it was almost certainly going to be an expensive engine rebuild.
Not sure if anything like that applies to the 3.5 V6 in the gen 3 or not.

Yep Kahlifornia. These thing fly off the shelves like a hot cakes. When I first started shopping I seriously considered used Tacoma. The difference between a used (2 year old/30,40k miles) and a new one was somewhere around $3-4k, thus the reason I went 2019 new.

Alright, lets turn this thread around.
Go get that truck, get a high interest credit card and mod the fuck out of it. I'm thinking lift, wheels and tires, absolutely stereo as stated earlier, led lights all over that bitch, and a box of condoms, cause that will get you all the ass you want.
