Ramp - Which one ?

    I'd like to get some ramps to change the oil, grease the zerks etc. What ones do you guys like, use, don't like - mistake to buy. Thanks for any help - don't want to buy them and find I wasted my $. I did read some reviews of the plastic ones on Amazon and it said they move forward when you try to drive up on them and the rubber on the bottom that is supposed to keep them from moving rips off. Thanks for any help. Curious George.

    Eh the rhino ramps I got at autozone long ago work just fine for me. I've used them on both of my tacomas, 280z, and dodge stealth..

    getting there....
    depending on the surface you have the ramps set on.....quite a few of them will move sometimes. my old ramps from wal-mart have worked fine for me for years, but on my garage floor(concrete)....they have a tendency to move some. you can actually cut some small pieces of fuel line ....split them in half on one side and put on the ramp lips to keep them from sliding much. works pretty good.

    I've had mine push forward a tad with a seabring (bumper actually was pushing it because of height). Never was really an issue though, if you go slow and steady they work just fine. Also with a taco (trd at least, probably sr5, of course not an x) you could drive completely over it and it wouldn't hurt anything due to the height.

    Sorry this is a dumb question, but are you guys using one set of ramps and just proping up the front? Or two sets and driving up both at once? Obviously because I thought you were suppose to be on an even surface...

    I don't need ramps to change the oil on my Tacoma. The truck is stock and I can slide under with ease to drain the pan.

    On most vehicles the drain bolt is on the back angle of the engine.... so if you have a slight incline of the front propped up it's a non-issue. However on a vehicle like my stealth with the transverse engine, I back into my driveway, then drive forward onto the ramps and due to the incline of my driveway, it's actually almost dead nutz even.

    Also, even if you don't get 100% of the oil out, in fact you never will and you shouldn't anyway... it doesn't hurt. Changing 95% of it will dillute the other 5% through the new stuff barely causing any cross contamination anyway. If you were able to get every single last drop out, you wouldn't have any lubrication on the crank when you first start it up.... and that would be bad.

    Though not with ease for me, I do like having the additional little height... so quick with a ramp it's no big deal.

    Man you must be slim and trim. I'm 5'10'' and weigh 185. I changed my oil and did the zerks last week and it was a struggle to get in position to remove the filter on my 2.7.

    I fill up the filter on the bench B 4 I install it to help with this.
