The truck still has stock extractors with cats.
Had URD y-pipe now mainly JFR with a bit of Frankensteining to a TRD catback.

I didnt get a chance to ride in it but it sounded amazingly pleasing revving in the driveway!

The customer actually said it is quieter now than stock.

This customer is a bit private so he/she was not on the public waiting list but did reach out to me about a year ago wanting some love for the 2GR.
Amazingly to me, this person drove extremely far out of their way to come to me and (of course :D) was behind schedule leaving.
This person now has probably at least 500 miles on it and still traveling today. I am still waiting on their impression after driving with it some.
    Pics are next.

As I said before this person's truck is 2wd so we could make the "traditional" equal length shape and still have it meet optimum tuned length requirements since there is no transfer case.
In this pic there is one weld on the merge to finish it.
The drivers side the funky rise in it to get the tube back above the crossmember while keeping the original bungs.
    20190925_182116.jpg
It may be hard to see in this pic but the 3rd gen auto trannys have a trans fluid heater/thermostat unit attached to it that will interfere with my standard equal length design on 3rd gens.

Now back to business as usual.

This afternoon I spoke with the mystery owner of the first prototype JFR TE2 y-pipe. The individual (I believe) is pretty impressed with how the engine is responding to the changes. We did reset the battery prior to the person leaving so the ecu is getting fresh parameters to learn from and this person has agreed to post their HONEST review of how the y-pipe and my first operational merge collector perform on the little itty bitty baby 2GR engine! :crapstorm:

Thanks for all of your hard work. I am now on my fourth y pipe since I bought my truck new 3 and 1/2 years ago. I went from the OEM to the URD Mk1 to the URD Mk 2 and finally to the JFR version. After driving almost 1100 miles in the last day my evaluation is as follows:

    Performance:

Driving through Oklahoma I had to stop at 6 toll booths which gave me a chance to do 6 wot pulls. I have the OV 93 octane performance tune which has a 6800 rpm red line and I made use of that feature repeatedly. It is very clear that there is an increase in power in the middle rpm range of 2000 to 4000. After that it seems to me that there was no change in power. This is actually good because the URD pipe only gave me an improvement in the upper rpm range.

    Sound:

This was my greatest surprise. After starting it up for the first time I got out and walked around the back of the truck and didn’t hear anything. I have the TRD Pro cat back and always heard a low rumble on start up before but now it is so quiet that I had to walk back to see if it was still running. Reving it up gives a very pleasant sound that I have not been able to find a word to describe it yet.

    Mileage:

My first tank of gas only gave me 23 mpg which is below average for me. We reset the ECU so I knew that it would take a while to go through the learning process. My second tank gave me 26 mpg which is more like my average going 75 mph on the road. My third tank was a little higher than that but some of the driving was only at 55 mph on a detour around Chicago. I have done some aerodynamic mods such as a belly pan which helps a lot.

    Negatives:

The only negative experience I had was the most devious and visceral mosquitos that I have ever encountered. LOL I had 15 mosquito bites on my left arm and 7 bites on my right arm. I wised up a little by wearing a long sleeve shirt on the second day. I don’t know why I had so many more bites on my left arm but they really appreciated my sweet Florida flesh.
Also my body is still a little sore from getting under that truck around a hundred times.

    Summary:

After waiting almost a year and driving over 1200 miles from Florida it was absolutely worth it in every way. I would like to thank Roost for his attention to detail. He is a great person who also has a lot of stories of his time in the military. He worked on the same engines that powered the aircraft that I flew in the Navy. I would also like to thank his sweet wife for being so nice to allow a stranger to sleep on her couch.

Stock extractors, JFR Y-pipe, unmodified TRD catback.
There are no other resonators or cats, just a flex pipe added to reduce exhaust stress.

We discussed, then ultimately went with 2.5" merge exit matched to the TRD 2.5" catback. The URD y-pipe he had on had a 3" exit which imo is too large unless force inducted.

thank you for the detail. knowing the TRD, which i had before, and the Spintech i have now with two resonators, I'm guessing we'll be changing mufflers and removing all the 3". the question i will have later is if I'm gonna plan ahead and have a 2.5" Vibrant in hand just in case. i will probably get one to be ready, but the muffler question... ugh!

Do you still have the TRD catback?
You aren't far from me so if you dont like one config then we can change it.

Also, fyi @St.Germain, this is not available to the public yet (if ever) so please keep on the dl in the 3rd gen forums.
You are covered as we have already agreed.
Making equal length will be a chore with 3rd gen 4wd though due to the trans heater.
